Best In The World Build Up:
Joey Styles welcomes us to the Best In The World pre-show.
Styles: Hello and welcome to the Best In The World pre-game show, a lot has changed in the past 2 months but one thing that hasn't is the feud between the Guerreros and Beer Money, let’s take a look at how this match came about.
The Guererros vs. Beer Money
After the attack at supercard, The Guerreros kept the tag belts claiming they injured the champions so bad, they wouldn't be able to defend the titles so they might as well defend the titles for them,
over the next few weeks they would defeat teams such as LAX and the pairing of Sheamus and McIntyre, using the belts to their advantage.
at the end of the month show, The Guerrero's face off against World’s Greatest Tag Team, Eddie is on the inside when Chavo throws a chair in the ring, while the ref puts the chair out Chavo looks for a title belt to throw to Eddie, but can't find it, as Eddie gets school boy'd by Benjamin, and Worlds Greatest Tag Team get the victory, we come back from commercial as Eddie is still in the ring shaken up by the loss and yelling at Chavo asking where the belts are...
Beer Money are on the screen, still bandaged up from the attack at Supercard.
Roode: "hey boys, you guys missing something? that’s odd cause we were missing something too, we actually just found it tonight..." Roode and Storm hold up their tag team championships on their shoulders. Storm: "you guys can get these back in a month, but not in a 'wrestling match' you guys vs. us, in a Texas Tornado, no DQ, no Count-out, knock down - drag out brawl, and legal assault... better known to us in ROH as a Fight Without Honor Match"
Roode: Hey James, look over there, it's they're Low-Rider..."
Storm: "wow Bobby, that’s looks nice, you know; since the Guerrero's 'borrowed' our belts, I think we should 'borrow' their car..."
Storm and Roode get in the Low-Rider, Storm hot-wiring it, they drive out of the arena, Eddie and Chavo chase after them...
Later in the show an official tells Eddie and Chavo the car is in the parking lot, they go out there to find they find that it's been smashed, crashed and even burned! Roode and Storm are behind the burnt and wrecked Car and attack Eddie and Chavo, security and officials breaking up the brawl.
a few next weeks later: Beer Money are getting ready for their first action in almost 2 months when Eddie and Chavo hit Storm in the back of the head with a tire iron, and double team Roode and drag him out to the ring, Chavo locks in the Lasso from El Paso while Eddie has grabbed a mic.
Eddie: you guys have made a big mistake, we are Guerrero's, you two had to learn fighting, we are born fighters, we lie, cheat, and steal but not Sunday..." Storm staggers out trying to save his partner; Eddie cuts him off and hits him in the head with the mic. "at Best In The World, we aren't gonna cheat - it'll all be legal, we aren’t gonna steal those title this time, you are gonna give them to us."
MVP vs. Yoshi Tatsu
Styles: Teddy Long claimed for weeks that he had found a future champion, that man finally debuted in ROH, attacking Yoshi Tatsu after a match; he then re-introduced himself in a way only he can.
The ring is set up with some couches and shades, even a mini-bar; Teddy Long is in the ring.
Teddy Long: "ladies and gentlemen, let me finally introduce my newest signing, and the man that will make me a powerful man, once again... M.V.P!"
MVP: "it's been a while since you've seen me anywhere, since that time a lot has changed, I've gotten better since my battles with the Undertaker, and Jushin Liger, after that I went to Japan and honed my craft, back then I wasn't ready, now I am, back then, it wasn't the right fit, now it is, back then I didn't really like you guys... I still don't. I've heard the jokes on the forums, and on twitter about how I had everything handed to me, and didn’t do anything with it, how I could beat the Undertaker when I had 2 chances, but guess what, I did more than any of you, or any ROH guy, or any Japanese guy has ever done..."
The TV Champion Yoshi Tatsu interrupted.
MVP: "whoa, Liger when did you get shorter and get rid of the get up?... oh I'm sorry, you're... you're... well I have no clue who you ar-" Yoshi heard enough and hit MVP with his roundhouse kick, knocking him out.
the week after: Yoshi answers a Kurt Angle Open challenge, but during the match Yoshi is on the outside, while the ref is backing Angle off, MVP swoops in and hits a drive by kick on Yoshi, this ends up costing Tatsu the match, when he gets in the ring, Angle hits an Angle Slam for the win.
Dean Ambrose vs. Abyss
The new management announced a tournament for the newly created Hardcore title.
Dean Ambrose defeated Finlay then Jake Roberts, Abyss defeated Kevin Thorn then R-Truth to advance in the finals of the tournament at the PPV
Randy Orton vs. Christopher Daniels
After losing his title at Final Battle, Orton got a rematch at the Anniversary Show, where he lost, again, Orton demanded one last match against Daniels a month later at the big end of the month TV taping... Orton having HHH in his corner, Daniels came with his backup Austin Aries, the bell rang as Daniels went outside the ring as soon as the match started and both men walked off, when Orton and HHH went to stop them from leaving, Aries sprayed pepper spray in Orton and Triple H's face, Daniels low blowing Orton and hitting a Angels Wings on the floor.
That week it was revealed that ROH was in financial trouble, and was now under new management, the anonymous new management announced on ROH.com that Daniels and Aries where suspended until the PPV.
Combine it the suspension with management situation, and it seemed the company was in turmoil, however the show must go on, and the anonymous new owner sent out an open letter on the ROH website that a contract signing would happen the week before the PPV and that Daniels suspension was lifted a week early but if didn’t show, he would be stripped of the title.
Daniels/Orton contract signing:
there’s a table is in the ring, Joey Styles with the contract in hand.
Orton comes out, and waits for Daniels, he, however is nowhere to be seen... Orton looks puzzled, but goes ahead and signs the contract, a close look reveals Daniels has already signed the contract... Orton signs, gets up and raises his hands in the air, waiting for Daniels to arrive as he keeps looking back at the ramp, it takes a while, but Daniels it up on the stage with a mic...
Daniels: "I'm here, just like management wanted, now let me tell you a story, I'm gonna reveal the real reason I was quote-unquote 'suspended' it wasn't for pepper spraying you or Triple H, although that was fun, it was because my contract ended around a month ago, I knew that we were gonna have a new owner, James sat me down and told me what was going on, and asked me to stay for the good of ROH, well I was fine with that, until I finally have a chat with the new guy, he treats me as an afterthought, he's stuck in 2005, where Christopher Daniels is just some indie-moron, he comes in and wants to keep the royalties to my name and likeness, I can't do much for likeness, but my name is just that, my name. I came up with it, it's mine, and just for that, you guys can't say my name tonight, or Sunday, or ever, or I'll sue you for, well, whatever you do have. I am 40 years old, I don't need to be an afterthought when I'm a world champion, I'll tell you the reason I've come back tonight, and will be at Best In The World, it's cause I want people to actually see my last appearance, I want the loyal ROH fans to buy that PPV for me, see me with the title, see me leave with the title, and follow me to which ever other company I join. If you're in the arena - take a picture, if you're on your computer - take a picture of your screen, cause you're never gonna see or hear from me aft-"
Edge runs out and beats Daniels into the ring, Austin Aries runs in from the crowd, allowing Daniels to run off, as Aries eats an RKO, Orton sets the table in the corner, then Edge hits a spear through a table.
Edge: "Hey Daniels... nice speech, I've been gone for a while too, and I was never able to tell you, Randy you'll wanna listen to this too, that by me winning that nice big trophy at Supercard, ... that means I get a title shot whenever and wherever I want, I don't want to use it just yet, but if you just happen to retain... you won't be so lucky the second time."
Styles runs down the BITW card
Styles: a shocking announcement by the champion... and Edge, with the possibility of 2 world title matches, and I'm getting word that there will be an announcement by the owner on who the GM will be, Best in the World will be history making.
Kurt Angle has opened up the American Hero invitational, anyone from outside the US can accept the challenge, over the past few weeks he's beat guys like Lance Storm, Finlay, and a champion Yoshi Tatsu, who will accept the challenge next Sunday?
Taz vs. Jack Swagger, a clash of styles both in and out of the ring.
The newcomer Dean Ambrose vs. "The Monster" Abyss to crown the first Hardcore Champion of the new era.
MVP vs. Yoshi Tatsu for the TV Title
Los Guerrero's vs. The Champions - Beer Money for ROH Tag Team titles in a Fight Without Honor match.
and even though he is suspended for 30 more days for returning early at the contract signing, HHH has demanded a match with Austin Aries, and it will happen.
and the ROH Champion vs. Randy Orton, and perhaps a title match against Edge too, if he chooses, or needs to cash-in the Supercup Title shot.
Be sure to join us for Ring of Honor: Best In The World, next Sunday.
