Ring of Honor Driven 2011 Date: Sunday 19th June 2011 From: Michigan State Fairgrounds Coliseum, Detroit Michigan Attendance: 5,000 Theme Song: Living In a Dream – Finger Eleven Tag Line: NWA Vs ROH – Champion Vs Champion
Match Card 1.) Taz Vs a hand picked opponent of Triple H’s choosing 2.) Beer Money Vs Kings of Wrestling – Tag Team Chains Match 3.) Brock Lesnar Vs Edge 4.) Ring of Honor Television Championship – Yoshi Tatsu Vs Prince Devitt 5.) Ring of Honor World Tag Team Championships – WGTT (C) Vs The Briscoe Brothers 6.) Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship – Randy Orton (C) Vs Chris Benoit (C)
1.) Beer Money Vs Kings of Wrestling – Tag Team Chains Match
The shock of KOW winning the Parking Lot Brawls was something that many people did not expect. With the way Beer Money had the match controlled but a simple mistake and KOW capitalized and found themselves the winners of the match. However Beer Money was not going to rest easily as anytime King of Wrestling made they way out for a match or just on fro some screen time, Beer Money which bandages and cuts all over there bodies would just attack King of Wrestling, brutally attacking them with chairs and leather belts. Beer Money wanted blood and where doing anything they can in order to attack Kings of Wrestling. No-one could tear this two teams apart, this rivalry has gone past who is the better team, this is just about what team can survive once the dust is settled. The attacks got worse as it wasn’t just Ring of Honor where attacks happened. If there was a Radio interview taking place, whether it was KOW or Beer Money, the other team would call in and both sides would engage in an argument, if it was a TV appearance then both teams would attack each other. Neither side wanted to leave the other alone and no matter what happened as long as either side were breathing, then there was to be hell for all four men. It was decided that for the safety of everyone, these two teams where to have another match on PPV, but this time they would be chained to each other in a Tag Team Chains match. That way neither side could run off if hurt too much, neither side could do anything without the other being close to them. The Chains match was confirmed for the PPV and from that day Beer Money and Kings of Wrestling, both vowed to destroy the other team and take them out for good. This feud started with who was the best team in ROH, this has now become simply, who can survive the onslaught as these four men go to war in a Tag Team Chains Match at Driven.
2.) Brock Lesnar Vs Edge
Following what happened at Take No Prisoners in which Edge was screwed of his chance to become Pure Champion, it was announced via the official ROH Website that Edge would get his chance for revenge when he was to face Brock Lesnar at the PPV, this match was also going to be a number one contender’s match, the winner would face the Ring of Honor Pure Champion Chris Benoit at next month’s PPV Undeniable. So with this match have a lot on the line, both men knew there were going to be in for a big match with each other.
3.) Ring of Honor Television Championship – Yoshi Tatsu Vs Prince Devitt
4.) Ring of Honor World Tag Team Championships – WGTT (C) Vs The Briscoe Brothers
In the pursuit to show everyone why they are the World’s Greatest Tag Team, they issued out an open challenge saying they will face ANY team in the world and defend there Championships. The Briscoe Brothers answered the call. They are quite possible the best tag team ever in Ring of Honor History, if you can beat them, then you have a right to call yourself the best and they are the yard stick when it comes to Tag Team Wrestling in ROH . Briscoes issued the challenge and WGTT excepted with no hesitation and so it was announced that this match was to happen at Driven. Could WGTT beat The Briscoe Brothers and solidify themselves as one of the best tag teams in Ring of Honor History. It would all go down at the PPV.
5.) Taz Vs a hand picked opponent of Triple H’s choosing 6.) Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship – Randy Orton (C) Vs Chris Benoit (C)
Following the shocking events of Take No Prisoners and the ending which many have described as an omen to the future of Randy Orton. It was revealed that Orton has now hired as much security as possible and that wherever he goes, Security will always follow him, surround the ring during every match and will have security check the premises whilst wrestling to make sure nothing like what happened at Take No Prisoners happens again. Also coming from the PPV, Austin Aries has seemingly vanished, no-one has been able to contact him or find out where he has gone. It was also announced that in a rematch from World Collide I in December 2009, there was to be a special NWA/ROH house show in July in which ROH World Champion Randy Orton would go up against Ricky Steamboat. With all this there was one thing that Orton had forgot about, that being his next championship defense being against Current NWA Wrestler and Ring of Honor Pure Champion Chris Benoit at Driven. Following two weeks of Orton not appearing at any shows it was announced on the website that Orton was to make a special address on the forthcoming edition of ROH on HDNet, where Orton would discuss all of these situations. The day arrived for the ROH show to air and there was no intro at all, there was no entrance music and there were no fans in the arena. All that was there was Revolution surrounded by security, mainly too protect Orton who is sitting down on a chair, the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship is by his feet lying in the middle of the ring. The silence of the Arena created the eerie atmosphere that Orton looked like he wanted. Orton now finally able to speak his mind and there was no-one to annoy him. “The reason this Arena is empty is because I made it so, I am the guy that runs this company. Not James, Not the so called “ROH Originals” hell not even the guys at HDNet, this is My Show! It’s called ROH for a reason, it’s Randy Orton’s House! This is where I liked to play, it’s where I liked to hurt, and ultimately, I like to destroy the hopes and dreams of anyone that stands before me, in this ring, backstage, by my car, in a house show. No matter where you are, Randy Orton always gets his way. Take No Prisoners was something different. I had beat Aries, It was my time to celebrate. I can only celebrate the way I want too, that was to end Austin Aries career. But you couldn’t let me have that could you; you had to interfere in my show, MY COMPANY! And you let him escape unharmed. Who do you think I am some lackey that is going to sit back and take this? I know your name. I know who you are. What you do. You see December 20th 2009; you took your hand and put them against my neck and head, and dropped me down to the mat. You surprised me, the fact you had the balls to attack me. The guy that can put you out of your misery just like THAT! From that day forward I knew what my real target was, If I could overtake and have Ring of Honor for myself, then the job of finding you would be much easier. I tried to be nice about it, give everyone a chance. But they fought back, but time after time, boot after boot, injury after injury, they finally started stepping down. They realized that Randy Orton is the real prophecy of this business, not you. Many people think I might be schizophrenic and that voices appear in my head but that’s just myself blocking the positive emotions that come into my head. I sit here with people surrounding me, not for my security, but for your own. It just takes one swift movement and I could kill you right there on this mat and I will become the greatest to have ever lived. But why don’t I do that. Lets just say, the time is not right, but don’t think you have it all too easy. I want you to sweat and when the wind blows I want you to feel it’s chilling breeze against your skin and know that your just as mortal as everyone else. Except I am the one that cannot be destroyed. You tried once, and you failed. You tried again, again you failed. People say the third time is lucky, for you it will be the last day you ever walk on this earth. There will be sacrifices along the way, but the blood will be on your hands, I am Driven to do something that no man has ever been able to do before. I will take any enemy and I will make sure they NEVER, set foot on this earth again. You have been warned, watch the PPV and you will get a taste of what is coming to you soon enough. Chris Benoit, your going to become my first sacrifice and Ricky Steamboat is next, after that it’s my decision. Say goodbye to the Randy Orton you have known since 2002, Say hello to the new Randy Orton, No longer a Legend Killer, just a soulless walking nightmare ready to strike at any given second.” Orton slowly bows his head down and slowly places the Microphone on the floor, Orton then slowly picks up the World Heavyweight Championship and slowly looks up, his eyes just bloodshot as he takes the Championship and slowly raises it above his head, Orton then drops to his knees and places the championship back onto the floor, just holding his arms out and begins to mouth something, almost like a sacrifice offering as Orton just looks down at the title still mouthing away and the rest of Revolution look on somewhat bewildered. Orton then slowly takes the Championship and slowly leaves the ring as the cameras fade to black for commercial. Back from commercials and the crowd is now in the Arena as Striker and Styles have not said anything as they are just in shock of what they have heard and experienced right before there eyes as they both take a deep breath and carry on with the show. The first match being Matt Hardy against Ring of Honor Pure Champion Chris Benoit. Benoit was out on a mission to prove that the ROH World Championship would be his, Benoit just not taking any liberty with Hardy just beating him from pillar to post, getting Hardy to tap out too the crossface but not letting go just looking like he is going to snap Hardy’s neck, officials trying there best to pull Benoit off of Hardy and they finally do as Benoit just with a look of death in his eyes. A message being sent to Orton that Benoit too can make sacrifices in the pursuit to gain what he wants. Benoit looks to leave the ring when from behind someone attacks him and as the hood is pulled down we see Randy Orton as he gets down to his knees and once again starts to look down at Benoit almost like a sacrifice ritual as we cut to commercials. Back from commercials and we see Benoit being tended too by medical officials who are just looking all around making sure Orton doesn’t appear and attack Benoit, however Benoit is insistent that no matter what Orton throws at him, he will come back twice as hard and that the Championship will be coming home with him. The main event of the show saw Revolution member Triple H going up against Steve Corino and in a hard fought match it was Triple H getting the victory with the pedigree, after the match though Orton came into the ring and Hunter just instantly got out. Orton licking his lips as he slowly takes Corino to his feet and without any remorse just RKO’s him down to the mat, but Orton just sits up and twists his head, something is not right as he slowly rolls out of the ring and looks underneath and pulls out a table and slides it into the ring, setting it up and then dowsing it in lighter fluid and setting it on fire. Corino gets placed on the top rope as Orton looks back the fire which looks like has put him in a trance it seems, Corino beginning to fight back and pushing Orton away as Corino jumps off the top rope right into the clutches of Orton who drives him through the flaming table with an earth shattering RKO. The crowd are in shock but then go silent as Orton slowly tilts his head and examines the convulsing body of Corino. Orton looking like he is about to do the sacrifice pose again but he slowly stands to his feet and looks down and extends his arms. Orton then slowly looks up, his mouth twitching as Orton runs across the ring and punt kicks Corino right in the skull, Orton though not finished punt kick Corino four more times in the head. Afterwards Orton falls down to his knees and extends his arms, the all too familiar sacrifice look Orton gives as Corino has just stopped moving. The crowd just in shock and is almost silent, the commentary has not said a word since Orton came into the ring. Orton just kneeling there not moving an inch looking at Corino as the cameras fade to black.
The next week of HDNet begins and there is a chill in the air, this psychotic almost inhuman monster Randy Orton has become, has changed the entire complexion of Ring of Honor. No-one is feeling safe and everyone is now as paranoid as they have ever been, even people who don’t like each other are looking out for each other. The Revolution has reached a new level and no-one is safe. During the show in the matches everyone who had a match was take down to the ring by security and there was many wrestlers around ringside just in case an attack happened again. However Orton and The Revolution did not show up at all as the show went off with no problems, in fact the next two weeks worth of shows there was no Revolution in sight. People slowly starting to relax as they thought maybe Orton had just lost his mind and needed to vent his frustrations. Chris Benoit, didn’t buy it though as he continued to prove he was not going to back down, just beating person after person trying to gain the momentum come the PPV.
The final HDNet show before the PPV and everyone was now behind Chris Benoit, he maybe from a rival company but everyone knew that Benoit was there best shot in taking down Randy Orton as many of the Ring of Honor’s faithful had been taken out or where missing with no-one able to trace them. Benoit now had a huge burden on his shoulders, too not only protect himself, but to protect Ring of Honor and to keep his word that he would win the World Championship. Benoit went into his final match before the PPV, against none other then Triple H. Ring of Honor Roster members where around ringside just watching on as Benoit and Hunter had a wrestling classic. Benoit able to get the win with a reverse of a pedigree into a backslide. Hunter though not happy started attacking Benoit but Taz was first into action attacking Hunter trying to get some momentum going into his match in which Hunter chooses his opponent. Everyone then started to get into the ring and an all out mass brawl began when the ever so noticeable music began too play and everyone just stopped and looked at the entrance ramp. Not knowing that from behind Randy Orton had slowly slipped into the ring and began taking anyone out he could with a baseball bat he was holding, people were being attacked from everywhere when it came down to Benoit and Orton. Both men just slowly circling the ring as Orton swung his bat and Benoit stepped back. Both men just looking each other in the eye. Benoit giving the gut throat gesture when from behind he gets taken down with a sledgehammer shot from Triple H. Orton then slowly dropped to his knees and gave the sacrifice pose we have become accustomed too as Orton slowly lifts his head up and smiles. Whatever it was at Take No Prisoners, it sparked something in Orton that has filled his body with pure evil and now Orton seemingly has lost his mind and is now looking unstoppable. The show fades to black slowly.

The crowd are chanting “holy shit” as Lesnar has just been instantly busted open with blood just pouring everywhere. Security and referees come down to ringside trying to separate both men but Edge has just snapped as he starts attacking the officials and taking them out. Edge is looking at the entrance ramp just waiting for the next lot of people. Edge just on the prowl for blood and violence. The crowd are just cheering for Edge who just throws the near unconscious body of Lesnar in the ring. Edge gets in the ring and waits for Lesnar to get to his feet running across the ring and taking him down with a spear. Edge then covers Lesnar, the crowd counting but it doesn’t matter as the referee has been taken out. Edge just uses the ref’s arm and slams it down three times. Edge getting to his feet and claiming he is the winner and the crowd are cheering along with Edge. Edge is celebrating when we see Lesnar slowly make it back to his feet, blood just pouring down his face, the look of someone who wants to murder the next person his sees. Lesnar just moving his shoulders up and down as Edge turns around right into a decapitation clothesline. Edge stumbles to his feet and gets tackled hard into the corner where Lesnar with hard shoulder tackles followed by picking up Edge onto his shoulder and launching him over the top rope and dumping onto the concrete on the outside. Lesnar just rolls to the outside in pursuit of Edge. This is no longer a match between these two but just a straight out fight. Lesnar’s face the crimson mask as he takes Edge and rams him spine first into the steel post and then into the barricade and then back into the steel post. More security officials and trainers and doctors come down too ringside trying to stop this mayhem but Lesnar doesn’t listen as he throws Edge into the officials just knocking them down. Lesnar slowly picks up Edge and then looks at the steel steps. Lesnar picks up Edge onto his shoulders and runs to the steps looking to go for a powerslam onto them but Edge counters right at the last second as Lesnar gets flying into and over the steel steps with a sickening thud. Lesnar slowly makes it too his feet as Edge runs and jumps onto the steel steps and jumps off into the clutches of Lesnar who throws Edge onto his shoulders going for the F-5 but Edge counters with the Edgecution. Both men just down on the outside as Edge slowly gets to his feet, this is a fight that has gotten way, way out of control as Edge slowly looks underneath the ring and pulls out a table and sets that up on the outside. We then see Taz leaving the locker room getting mentally focused for his mystery opponent. With his towel over his head he walks down the corridor and towards the entrance way as we go back to ringside “Ladies and Gentlemen the following contest is scheduled for one fall and is the Pick Your Poison match for Taz in which Triple H has picked Taz’s opponent here tonight” (Play Out) Taz focused and ready to go, just beelines it down to ringside and gets into the ring throwing the towel away as we see the scowl of Taz, he means business here tonight as he looks at the ramp and waits for his opponent here tonight (Plat Out) Hunter comes out with a microphone in hand, smiling and laughing at Taz as his music dies down and he begins to speak “You know last month, you got me good Taz, made me go up against Sheamus and then screwed me over in the match with my own sledgehammer. I’ve got too say Taz, your smarter then most cheap whores I’ve beaten in that ring, or even in a bedroom. Taz you want to play mind games, well GAME ON!” (Play Out) The crowd are in shock as Raven makes his way out to the ring, Raven looks at Hunter and then slowly turns his head to Taz and gives the classic Raven pose as he then slowly begins to walk down the aisle way and gets to ringside. Raven slowly gets to his feet and turns and looks directly at Taz who stands there stoic just looking on. Raven slowly pulls the hair away from his face and we see a black symbol painted over his right eye as Hunter looks on in shock. Raven then slowly stretches his arms out and tilts his head back just standing there as Taz looks on and can’t wait any longer as he goes right after Raven and starts attacking him in the corner. Raven not even defending himself as Taz just beats away at him in the corner. The ref counting Taz out and his backs away at a count of four. Taz breaks up the pinfall lifting Raven’s shoulders from the mat shaking his head. Taz slowly rolls Raven over to his stomach and grabs his throat and locks in the tazzmission with the body scissors around Raven who is not even trying to break out of the submission, we see Raven slowly fading away as Taz just is pulling back on the hold trying to get every ounce of torque into this hold as Raven slowly goes unconscious and the referee can see Raven has just lost all movement in his body and calls for the bell to end the match. Taz lets go of the hold and gets to his feet, his hand raised but looking down at Raven wondering why he didn’t do anything to defend himself. Taz just looks down and looks at the symbol that has been painted over his eye. Taz not sure what it is as he looks at the crowd and raises his arms in victory. Taz turns around to leave the ring but gets blasted by a sledgehammer shot from Triple H getting jeers from the crowd. Hunter then looks at the fallen Taz and shouts that “payback is a bitch” as he taunts to the crowd and leaves the ring and walks to the back. “Well what can you say, I am still perplexed and what was with Raven, he didn’t defend himself and that mark over his eye, has that got anything to do with what is going on. Taz won this match tonight but this rivalry with Triple H is far from over” “Well you have that correct but whatever happened tonight, is that a prelude to what Taz is going to do to Hunter, or is Hunter going to be able to squeak out another victory. This rivalry has just become all the more important too both men” We cut backstage and we see Randy Orton getting ready for his World Championship defence, putting on his tape around his wrists and slowly lacing up his boots. Orton also has new ring gear on as his attire has a black, gold and red tinge to it. Orton slowly looking at his World Championship as he picks it up and slowly kisses it. Orton is wearing a hoodie so we cannot see his face during this segment as we cut back to ringside for the semi main event of the evening. “Ladies and Gentlemen the following contest is scheduled for one and is the Tag Team Chains Match, the rules are as follows. Each member of the team will be changed to an opposing partner, from there everything is legal and the only way to win is by submission” (Play Out) Both teams go to the centre of the ring as the referee explains the rules and pulls out a coin asking Roode to call out heads or tails, heads means he is chained to Castagnoli, Tails to Hero. Roode calls out heads but it lands on tails but if anything is spurs Roode on as his chain is placed around his wrist and locked into position, Hero then gets his part of the chain placed around his wrist and locked into position. Storm and Castagnoli both get the same thing done to them as all four men are chained to there opponent as the ref calls for the bell to start the match off. All four men are just staring at each other looking down and seeing the chain there attached too and there opponent whom there attached too. Storm and Castagnoli tug on the chain as it just rattles almost like a lost soul trying to escape. Roode and Hero look at there chain and then look at each other, the crowd cheering for there favourite team as Storm and Castagnoli start going right at it with each other and Roode and Hero do the same. Storm slowly rolls out of the ring and looks underneath and pulls out a steel chair and slowly gets back into the ring, waiting for either Hero or Castagnoli to get to there feet. Storm just in wait as Castagnoli gets to his feet and gets a hard steel chair shot to the back sending him into the turnbuckle as Storm turns around and we see Hero has been busted wide open and Storm takes advantage with a sickening chair shot to the skull knocking him down to the mat, the dent of the chair shows the force which Storm swing the chair. Storm drops the chair and attacks Castagnoli in the corner knocking him down to the bottom turnbuckle as Roode joins and both men just start stomping away on him. Hero stumbles to his feet but is loopy as he tries to stumble around and Roode and Storm are just there attacking him almost like a tennis ball, just back and forth until Roode with his wrist covered in the chain knocks Hero down to the mat again. Beer Money are in total control of this match as they move to the centre of the ring and lean down, Storm jumping up shouting “BEER” and then Roode jumping up shouting “MONEY” As the crowd chants along with them. Kings of Wrestling are being dismantled before everyone’s own eyes as Roode and Storm slowly grab the steel chain and in mirror images start whipping the back of both Hero and Castagnoli as huge welts just appear on both men’s bodies. Roode and Hero slowly begin to move as the chain is rattling around them. Roode slowly gets to his knees and we can see Roode has been busted open as well now as Hero and Roode slowly look at each other; both men’s head the crimson mask. But neither is backing down as they trade punches back and forth, slowly getting to there feet as Hero throws Roode into the turnbuckle and then yanks the chain sending Roode back as he gets taken down with a big back body drop over the top rope and too the outside. They set it up and both men put the STF submission on Hero and Castagnoli using the steel chain to choke out both men who are screaming and choking in pain, both men trying to reach out to the other not too tap out as Roode and Storm are pulling back with all there might trying to get one of them too tap out.
