Well TE is officially over and the Winner is Silent Rage, Andy. It seems the general concensus is happy with this decision. I'm going to just give a small review .
Overall the cast was alright, the women were horrid on this show with the exception of Michelle, she left for the right reasons, the rest of them were in it for the glamour of it. I'm sorry but it's true. Out of the men only four really struck me, Martin, Andy, Ryan and Jerimiah. Martin had the best attitude, Andy was the big man with an 'original' gimmick lined up, Ryan had charisma albeit very green and Jerimiah was the fastest learner and had a charm to him. The rest of the men, honestly, can fuck off.
Now down to the finals, we have Luke against Andy, here's what I noticed.
Luke - Cocky, arrogant, not sure how the match was with Bill, however, he's billed at 209, Bill is pushing close to 300, in ring psychology, you don't do a hip toss on a 300 lb man. In ring promo on Raw, he was nervous, it was very easy to see. His 'promo' building him up, he partied and trained though kept saying 'I want to make money' to me it seemed that he wanted to live the lifestyle of a rockstar. Not for nothing but you put the business first not yourself from what Austin has been preaching.
Andy - Quiet, powerful, looked to have a solid match with Bill. If Nash and Edge had a lovechild, this would be him. On Raw, he was ready, he was pumped, he was confident. His 'promo' building him up, yes he has a family but all he kept talking about was wrestling and the sacrifices and this was his dream.
To me, Andy was the better sell. Luke appeared as the best all rounder but was in it for himself, granted you should be but he almost was taking a 'I want to live the lifestyle' approach where as Andy would let you set him on fire if asked, that's what I believe caught their eye. Andy is trainable and can be billed as the next power guy or Test/Diesel or maybe even an 'Edge' based upon his look where as Luke looks EXACTLY like everyone else. To me he was WAY too cocky and yet he can be 'humbled' it was his initial attitude that struck a cord.
Hell the fans weren't even responding to him, they wanted Andy and I think Austin made the right choice.
Overall, Tough Enough Season 1, while we all were second guessing them I think they made the right choice based upon what they had but this wasn't stellar TV. I wasn't fond of the 'life lessons' because that has nothing to do with wrestling. I'm sorry but climbing a building and jumping through rings of fire doesn't mean shit. I wish I got to see more 'wrestling' or 'training' of them like in the last seasons or teaching them about the 'road schedule' you know the ins and outs of the business but eh, what do I know?
7/10
