Starting Mandates
• Do an instant paint over job by returning to the classic WCW logo, retiring the TV and Hardcore titles, and hire the best talent available.
• Open some of those purse springs, we can afford it, and buy out all the time Warner contracts of the men we want.
• Retire the WWF Hardcore title. It’s worthless at this point.
• Each brand will have one title that is unique to them added to the 3 mains (and women for WWF).
• Have Vince have a long phone conversation with Runnels, Jarrett, Hogan and any other WCW wrestler or performer they need to work issues out with.
April 2001
The Last Nitro happens with minimal WWF involvement and no simulcasts
Wrestlemania 17: Do not turn Austin heel! Instead he wins the title and Rock simply disappears to go do his movie.
Raw Week 1 (night after Wrestlemania 17)
• Chris Jericho drops the IC title to Jeff Hardy.
• Do it exactly as they did, sans burying the WCW talent. But instead of Shane appearing on Nitro…Linda comes out in a continuation of the angle last night at Wrestlemania. She says that she has had enough of him, and to stop him from destroying the business like he has his own family that she and Shane have hired this man to run WCW as a separate brand…Eric Bishoff!
• Bishoff comes out to massive shock of everyone with a shit eating grin on his face. He announces that with his new stock he has contacted UPN and has turned Smackdown into Nitro. He then says that next week there will be a draft (just like the one a year later) where he and Vince will pick their talent, champions excluded as they will automatically be on their brand. He then says “84 weeks on a row Vince. We may not be head to head anymore, but next week it’s going to start again and now it will be under your own company umbrella. And thanks to your beautiful wife, there is nothing you can do about it!”
• Raw goes off the air with Bishoff grinning and leaving as Vince stares on open mouthed in the ring.
Raw Week 2
• The draft occurs. Both should show contempt for the each other’s previous identified talent for the most part. They give the impression that they are sticking with “their guys.” Again champions are excluded.
• Vince Mcmahon’s picks go as follows for the first ten:
1. The Undertaker
2. Triple H
3. Kurt Angle
4. Jeff Hardy
5. Matt Hardy
6. Kane
7. The Rock – with a comment of hope for him to return soon
8. Mick Foley
9. Bubba Ray Dudley
10. Devon Dudley
• Bishoff first ten picks are:
1. Goldberg
2. Hulk Hogan – Taunting Vince. Vince scoffs at Hogan and buries him in return.
3. Sting
4. Ric Flair – calling him the Foundation of WCW
5. Kevin Nash
6. The Big Show – reverting him to the Giant to everyone’s shock and Vince’s aggravation.
7. DDP
8. Chris Jericho – Shot of Jericho dropping his jaw backstage. Bishoff says he always like Chris and would use him certainly better than Vince had been.
9. Jeff Jarrett
10. Scott Steiner
• The night continues with interviews with both giving their reactions and predictions. We also get the reactions of some of the men drafted, especially Show and Jericho.
• The picks then continue for the next round.
• Mcmahon:
11. Dustin Rhodes – reverting him to Goldust and giving a smile that says that that that was for Bishoff’s picks.
12. Curt Henning- Saying that he was always better in the WWF and saying that “he will once again be perfect!”
13. Bradshaw
14. Farooq
15. Rhyno
16. Tazz
17. Billy Gunn
18. Lita
19. Trish Status
20. Rikishi
• Bishoff:
11. Chris Benoit- Vince is furious at this point.
12. Eddie Guerrerro
13. Rey Mysterio
14. Lance Storm
15. Terry Funk
16. Animal
17. Hawk (saying he has come to terms to rehire him)
18. Sid Vicious
19. Jerry Lynn – Vince now make some comment about Bishoff never changing, “stealing” his talent.
20. And in one final shock…announces he has rehired Scott Hall!
• Again reactions and matches. Then we move to the final round.
• Vince picks: Pretty much everyone else picked up from the WWF Roster and announces he has rehired Road Dogg (After sending him to rehab)
• Bishoff picks: Pretty much everyone else and….Dean Malenko!
• The final segment is Austin leading out the WWF Roster. Ric Flair leading out the WCW roster. A stare down almost breaks down into a brawl until Bishoff and Mcmahon order masses of security to keep them apart. Austin gives Vince the finger and Flair glares as Bishoff as the show finishes.
MAY, JUN, JULY AND AUGUST:
• Both shows then go on separately for most of the summer.
• Dusty is brought in and made the head writer of WCW with Bishoff as an advisor.
• The Commentators for Raw are Ross and Heyman, For Nitro Shiovani and Heenan.
• All this time we have moments in interviews where they bash each other’s rosters and products as they did when they were actually doing the Monday Night War but more so. Vince and Bishoff doing more and more to try and bury each other’s shows and proclaim theirs as the best brand. Bishoff and WCW Wrestling shoot on Haku for what he did in January, the WWF guys shoot on the WCW guys for all the usual.
• Vince manages to keep WCW off PPV…until Shane and Linda order Summerslam to be a co branded PPV.
• WWF make the IC title the young wrestler’s title, stating that’s its fine they lost those ungrateful WCW “wrasslers.”
• WCW make their cruiserweight division their signature again with a masked Rey Mysterio and Billy Kidman as their heads. AJ Styles, Jerry Lynn and the like also add to this great division. Shane Helms losses the title to Rey on the first episode of Nitro. He later returns with his Hurricane Helms gimmick.
• The European and Hardcore titles are unified with the IC title in May.
• Scott Hall and Nash are once again named the Outsiders and claim to be the last of the NWO. Hogan continues as the red and yellow Hogan.
• Goldberg is rebuilt on WWF TV as monster who can beat anyone again. Squashing all on his way to a title match.
• Booker T losses the US Title to Benoit in May and the WCW World title to Goldberg in July.
• Benoit is forced to drop the US title due to injury in June. A tournament in July sees Chris Jericho crowned champion.
• O’Haire and Palumbo drop the WCW Tag Team Titles to The Road Warriors in May also. The Road Warriors then go on a rampage.
• Eddie is released from WWF due to his drug problems.
• Austin defends the WWF title month after month as he really did against top contenders. The last being Triple H at the KOTR where H tears his quad.
• Kane wins the IC title from Jeff Hardy in June.
• The Hardy’s win back the WWF Tag Team Titles from E & C in June. They continue to mix it up with the Dudley’s, the APA and Edge and Christian.
• Chyna returns to being a badass and has a dominate reign, all the time Lita is built and a program is slowly built between the two that explodes in August as a title match is announced for Summerslam.
• An angle starts where people think there is a WCW mole in the locker room that wants to defect. This mole turns out to be William Regal…the Undertaker doesn’t like that as the locker room leader. They start a feud.
• All this while Vince pulls his weight and manages to keep WCW off PPV. WCW counter by having great ratings, using every third or fourth Nitro as their PPV’s and Bishoff and Shiovani saying they give their big matches for free unlike the WWF!
• This is until Linda and Shane return to force Vince to make Summerslam a co branded PPV.
Summerslam 2001

WWF Intercontinental Championship
Edge defeats Kane (starting the Edge and Christian breakup angle as happened.)
WCW Championship
Goldberg defeats Hulk Hogan
WWF Championship
Stone Cold Steve Austin defeats Kurt Angle
• As Austin celebrates he turns around and wham! Goldberg spears him in half. He stands over him, snorting and pointing at his title belt and yelling “this is the real World’s tile and you’re looking at the real champion!” He then walks off and it met by Bishoff who is smiling and saying good job. The last things we see when the logo appears is Austin flat on his back.
September 2001
Week 1
Raw
• Austin cuts a promo saying he is coming to Nitro for revenge. Not for Vince but for him.
Nitro
• WCW get ready for Austin, having the roster fill the aisle as the Main Event of Goldberg VS DDP takes place. After the match Goldberg is celebrating when the glass breaks and the music hits. All the WCW wrestlers look towards the stage, waiting for Austin…when threw the crowd over the announce table and into the ring comes Austin, spins Goldberg around and stunners him! The crowd its going nuts as Austin leaves.
• Bishoff yells bloody murder, the WCW wrestlers charge over the barrier after Austin but he is gone. As they surround Goldberg in the ring he gets up, with rage in his eyes, and grabs Bishoff by the shirt and pulls him in yelling “tell me we are going to beat their ass!” “Oh yes” Bishoff nods, half pleading. Goldberg lets him go, then as the WCW wrestler pace in the ring Eric looks into the camera and says “this Invasion has just begun. You want a war Vince…you got a war!”
Week 2
Raw
• The WWF prepares all Raw for the WCW invasion. And in the main segment it comes. The WCW attack leading to a massive brawl. Then from out of nowhere come Nash and Hall working now WITH the WCW, which has the WWF reeling when Hollywood Hogan’s music hits and Hogan has rejoined the NWO! Helped to beat down the WWF wrestlers. Hogan then turns to Bishoff and extends his hand. The two shake as the entire WCW roster looks on wearyingly. “We do hate WCW Vince” Hogan says to Vince as Hall and Nash hold him up “but we hate your guts even more. At least WCW paid us millions…all you did was take all the money we made for you and put it in your own pockets brother!”
• With that the crowd reacts with the NWO joining forces with the WCW as the show fades out.
Nitro
• Nitro that week begins with a taped message from Vince Mcmahon, with a black eyed mind you, saying he has a little surprise for “Dubyah See Dubyah” tonight!
• Bishoff is on edge all night, as is the announcer and everybody.
• It is the main event and Hollywood Hogan is in the ring, when through the crowd to a humongous pop comes the returning Rock. He spins Hogan around and Rock bottoms him. He trash talks Hogan until Nash and Hall run out to case him off through the crowd.
REST OF SEPTEMBER and OCTOBER
These back and forth attacks and shoots on each other continue throughout the rest of the next two months. Undertaker and Kane show up on Smackdown and chokeslam all the men in a four way cruiserweight match to hell! The NWO attack the Rock in the backstage area and send him to hospital. Goldberg and Austin continue to proclaim themselves the true champions and bury each other.
November 2001
Week 1
Raw
• A tag match is going on the ring between Raven & Taz against the Hardy Boys. At the end of the match RVD and Tommy Dreamer run in through the crowd and then we get the exact scene as it was from the July 9th show as ECW arrive and turn, group together and destroy the Hardy’s. We get a shot backstage showing that the WWF officials are trying to open the locker room door that has locked all the rest of the WWF superstars inside. Paul Heyman then gets up from the announce table and cuts the exact same promo from July 9th. However this time that is the go home of the night and they do not join with WCW or get brought by Steph.
Nitro
• That week in the main event of Nitro ECW then turn up and do the exact same to WCW having Jerry Lynn, Lance Storm, Mike Awesome, Bam Bam, Terry Funk and all the other former ECW talent in WCW turn on WCW and beat them down as well. Heyman then gets on the mic and shoots on how he hates WCW, why he despises WCW and why he can’t wait to take them down. He says that everyone has forgotten ECW and they want their shot as well. He then reminds us all of the Mike Awesome situation, the ECW guys slowly turnings and then beating hell out of Awesome. Heyman yells at him “we don’t want you you son of a bitch! Stay with your money Eric Bishoff gave you!” With that Nitro ends.
Week 2
Raw
• We are told that Bishoff and Mcmahon have been in secret meetings all weekend and day to discuss what do about the ECW insurrection.
• Later that night Vince and Bishoff come to the ring and announce a tentative truce in order to crush ECW. They announce that at Survivor Series ECW will get their shot in a 5 on 5 tag team match. It will be the best of the WWF and WCW against ECW’s best. If the ECW team win then ECW is brought back from the dead, if they lose then it is gone for good.
The buildup continues for the rest of the month with WWF and WCW wrestlers having to worker together but not likely it, barely able to not start a brawl. The WCW guys bring up that ECW and WWF were always in bed together etc. Before they defected the Dudley’s earned a shot at the Tag Titles and we learn they will still get them. ECW continues to rant and rave, attacking everyone and everything. They even bring back Sandman who canes the crap out of both rosters on one show. Finally the night comes.
Survivor Series 2001
WWF Intercontinental Championship
Ladder Match
Edge defeats Christian
WCW Tag Team Championship
The Road Warriors defeat Ron & Don Harris
WWF Women’s Championship
Trish Stratus returns to defeat Lita (start of wrestler Trish)
WCW Cruiserweight Championship
Rey Mysterio defeats AJ Styles
WWF Tag Team Championship
Cage match
The Dudley Boys defeats the Hardy Boys to take the titles!
WCW United States Championship
Eddie Guerrero returns to defeat Chris Jericho.
ECW’s fate on the line
Taz, Raven, RVD, Terry Funk and Tommy Dreamer VS Goldberg, Hollywood Hogan, the Rock, Stone Cole and the Undertaker.
• Towards the end of the match the tentative WWF and WCW alliance explodes the Rock and Hogan going at it, Goldberg and Austin blistering each other. From behind comes ECW and manage to eliminate all to get the win.
• Heyman and his boys have a beer bash in the ring to celebrate as the ECW music is played.
The turn of the year
• It is announced the next night that MTV’s Heat will now become Hardcore TV! ECW has its own show, announcing Rhyno once again the ECW Champion! Heyman announces the Dudley’s the new ECW Tag Team champions (but like Van Dam years later in RL) the Dudley’s decide to keep the WWF titles as well, being double tag champions.
• The next major shocker then comes when Eddie Guerrero then defects to ECW, taking the WCW United States Championship with him! He is then announced the new ECW television champion! ECW now has one belt from both the WWF and the WCW, both holders being related champions in ECW as a reward.
• At the end of December RVD defeats Rhyno for the ECW Championship to become the top face of that brand.
• Goldberg and Austin are now demanding a title match with each other to prove who the best Champion is.
• The NWO, especially Hogan continues to promo on the Rock and the Rock returns in kind with promos on them and returning the favor.
• At Vengeance 2001 Mcmahon demands that the Dudley’s show up to defend their tag team titles they stole. Vince is going red, adamant to get his belts back and so he gleefully books them to defend against The Undertaker & Kane in a buried alive match! They have a stiff war of a match that in the end is going the Brothers of Destructions way when the lights cut out. When they come back on Sting (who has been absent all year) is there and the place is going nuts. He bats down and then turns his bat to the Undertaker. Undertaker and Sting go at it, Sting knocking Taker back into the Dudley’s who 3D Taker and bury him alive!
• The next Nitro Sting cuts a promo with Bishoff. “I didn’t do it for the Dudley’s, I didn’t do it for Extremey Crappy Wrestling, and certainly didn’t do it for this little asshole” the crowd pops as he points his back at Bishoff, whose smile has been wiped off his face “I did it because I love WCW, I am WCW and this was the best way to show Vince and his ‘superstars’ that! I took their locker room leader and I cost him a match, showed him up and had him buried alive! And the same thing to anyone who messes with MY WCW!”
• All the while Heyman, Vince and Bishoff all keep cutting shoot promos on each other, bringing up all their thoughts and stories and truths to bury each other. The talent also to a lesser degree.
• Lance, Credible and Dawn reform Triple Threat.
• Things are then made that much worse when it is announced that the Royal Rumble match itself will be tri branded.
The Royal Rumble
WCW United States Championship
Eddy Guerrero defeats Steven Regal
Women’s Championship
Hardcore Match
Trish Stratus defeats ECW’s Jazz
• Mick Foley is announced as a special guest. He has a few skits backstage…then turns around after his last right into Terry Funk. They chat the shit awkwardly for a minute until Funk gets serious “there’s a place for you in ECW again Cactus.” “Terry I can’t” “Godamit why? Because of Vince?” “Partly, he has given me a lot. I am also retired Terry.” “Bull! You retired way too early and never got a real goodbye. Not like you should have. Cactus Jack is still in their somewhere.” “And he’s never coming back” Foley says to a loud ‘oh’ and boos from the fans “excuse me.”
That sends Funk over the edge now; he bubbles and beats the hell out of Foley in the hall. He then yells down at him “it’s for your own good! You got soft you stupid bastard! You make me sick!” He kicks him again and walks off screen.
WCW Championship
Goldberg defeats DDP
WWF Championship
Stone Cold defeats The Rock
30 Man Royal Rumble Match
• The brands side with each other from the start, leading to double teams, triple teams and all out three wars in the ring.
• Sting is getting over, eliminating a lot of people when the lights cut out…and the Undertaker returns as the Deadman, Paul Bearer at his side! He blisters Sting as the place goes rabid and then eliminates him from the match, stepping over the top rope to eliminate himself with no regard for winning the match and walks like Michael Myers after Sting as he goes to the back.
• The number 30 entrant is the return of the Game Triple H! The crowd is again ear bleeding loud as the Game comes in and hammers into everybody…until he comes across his close good friend Kevin Nash…they stare for a moment, hunter looking like he doesn’t want to do it but they then got to blows, Hall now coming over for a two on one assault, the clique exploding before our very eyes, they then grab HHH and go to throw him out when Kane eliminates them both.
• Triple H then recovers and wins the match!
February 2002
Week 1
Raw
• The next night Vince comes out and says that he has had enough of WCW and ECW, this whole thing! He put both out of business and they won’t leech off his hard earned money or television deals! He is then joined by Bishoff, then Heyman. All make their cases for their brand when Shane’s music hits.
Shane announces that Wrestlemania X8 will be the night to settle it all. The Main event will be a triple threat match between the champions of all three brands and the winning champion will be the undisputed champion and the man whose company remains in business.
• Triple H then comes out and say then in that case that he will cash in his Royal Rumble main event at No Way Out! But only because this is so huge a deal.
Over the next several weeks the feuds and divisions that have been building for year begin to bubble over and we get a real sense of how big this really is.
No Way Out 2002
WWF Championship
Stone Cold Vs Triple H
• Triple H looks like he has it until a run in from the NWO for the beat down on Hunter. Austin gets patriotic and mad that this was ruined and attacks them as well but is also triple teamed down…
• “If ya smell!” The place explodes as the Rock comes down. In the commotion Austin and HHH take Hall and Nash’s time and the Rock is left with Hogan. The WWF run the NWO off at NWO as the PPV finishes.
March 2002
• The next night the Rock and Hogan do the exact same segment they actually did accept when some build up behind it and comments about WCW VS the WWF.
• Rob Van Dam cuts some vintage RVD promos running down Austin and Hogan, touting his abilities; record as TV champ and that he is true Champion.
• Mick Foley returns as Cactus Jack and cuts amazing promos challenging Terry Funk
• HHH brings back HBK for his feud against Nash and Hall
• The build up for the main event matches now boils over and all out three way war starts between the three brands and then we head in the biggest Wrestlemania of all time!:
