Okay, I have been thinking about this for a while and how to react to the last few weeks of television and everyone's strong feelings to this character but I am going to break it down point by point and give my thoughts.
Part 1.) If you heard on BTM with my email, I was sceptical of the Rock's return, as much as I enjoyed it, him being away for seven plus years but cutting pre-recorded segments to air on TV made me pissed. So when he came back and was physically there whilst I was happy, like I said in the email. I just have this feeling regardless of whether it was in California or not, It felt as if Rock was given a fuck ton of money and immunity from anyone trying to interfere with his return. USA tried and failed at it miserably.
Rock makes his return and cuts a pretty good ten to fifteen minute promo, saying he is back and that he is here for good (More on that later). He sets his sight on the person that everyone in the IWC (Internet Wrestling Community) has been creaming and killing at the same time, John Cena. Basically mocks Cena for what he has brought to this business and that he is no Rock and never will be. Rock proceeds to say he will kick someone's ass at Mania because he can.
For that week the IWC was going crazy saying how Rock schooled Cena and that Cena wouldn't be able to come back from that, my thoughts...Rock's return couldn't be tarnished by a Run-In from Cena, so sit down, shut up and wait for Cena's response and then you can start making assumptions.
Part 2.) At Elimination Chamber Cena basically mocked the Rock for what he said by actually eating an uber giant bowel of fruity pebbles or whatever they were. However that was the only reference we got from Raw to Elimination Chamber, however during that week we did hear that Cena was to make a rebuttal to the Rock's argument. Okay I have no real problem with them focusing like ten seconds to Rock/Cena on a PPV because well it's a PPV and if you hype something up for the next night which is the OFFICIAL final push to Wrestlemania, that's when people really start tuning in. so Cena wins and we get a rebuttal the following night.
Part 3.) Cena comes out at the start of Raw to confront the entire situation. Cena says for one night only his Thugganomics is coming back. Cena does his rap stuff and actually explains and says everything that people have said about The Rock the past seven years. However most people say that Cena didn't even tough Rock, most of these people are the same ones that basically kept shitting all over Rock when he was gone but because he came back and shat on Cena then he is the new hero to these people! Really, that how jaded and cynical some people are in wrestling today...okay fair enough
So Cena basically says the same thing that a lot of us have been saying that being he has been here for seven years straight and that Rock basically said F-U to wrestling. I am with Cena 100% on this feud; simple fact is that Cena is telling the god's honest truth. Whilst Rock's stuff is a great laugh at the return promo that he cut felt as if it was to get laughs, not to answer the floating questions surrounding this apparent big thing.
After Cena's Promo we practically get not much talk of anything until we here that Rock's is going to retaliate LIVE and I stress the word LIVE, the following week. So I thought that maybe for the first time we are going to see a stare down between Rock and Cena....Yeah in my dreams!
Part 4.) They cut to a TAPED PROMO of Rock from his home in California, so you’re telling me that Rock has come back for the millions and that he is never leaving and yet he can't make the journey to New York....Okay that's bullshit. Whatever Rock said it was null and void because the point that Cena put forward was shown to be true! So Rock cuts a pretty crap Promo in my opinion because basically any words that spewed from his mouth in my feelings was bullshit because it was a TAPED PROMO! Rock basically said that Cena slagging him a couple of years ago hurt him and his family, Actually Rock, Cena didn't slag you off, in fact he gave you a lot of praise, he just said that your fucking us around which you are, ALSO Don't advertise something as LIVE but then bullshit us around. Much like Wrestlemania 25 with the Tag Title Unification. But because it's The Rock, everyone was saying that he schooled Cena again and that Rock is amazing.
Again my points still stands, It's only because Rock has returned is everyone jumping on the band wagon, if Nash, Stone Cold, HBK, Triple H, Hogan, Goldberg, Flair etc etc basically done something similar as Rock is doing, then everyone would be saying that they schooled Cena. Because Rock has been away from seven years people think he is the second coming of christ and I personally don't buy it. Come on after basically saying F-U to Wrestling and leaving for seven plus years, for him to come back out of the blue, whilst it's great I personally can't help but feel as if there is something we are not being told.
I bring up this point as this ENTIRE feud actually started back in 2008 on the UK Newspaper Website The Sun and it's Wrestlecast interviews, now Cena had an interview with the Sun about two or three weeks prior to his return at Royal Rumble 2008 and the topic of The Rock came up and this is exactly what Cena said:
Cena said this in 2008, this was when Cena was actually plugging or about to leave and go do another film and what Cena is saying is true. Cena stays and does Films (Granted pretty shit ones) but he never leaves WWE, he is always there for the fans where as Rock who said he would never leave, decides to leave and basically takes a dump on all of us. Coming back only on taped promo's to give his thoughts on Vince being bald and Smackdown (The show that was basically made for HIM) having a Tenth Anniversary and I'm sorry but that's wrong. especially Smackdown A SHOW THAT IS BASED OFF A CATCHPHRASE HE MADE! and yet he can't appear live and just say HI! and go away.
Many of you will go well if he comes back then it won't feel special, okay perfect example from the same period of time, Stone Cold Steve Austin, became semi-retired in 2003, but since that has made a fuck ton of returns to WWE, every time the crowd goes crazy for him coming back so don't say to me that Rock would feel less special.
Anyway Rock actually gave his thoughts on what Cena said but not until April 2009, almost fourteen mouths later, but Rock responded by saying:
Less than a month later Cena addressed what Rock said and gave his own counter argument saying:
Again for me, Rock is skirting around the issue, saying he wishes Cena the best in his career, not actually giving an honest answer. WHY? because for me Rock knows that Cena has his number and is telling the truth, Rock can't deny that he has gone back on his word and that he is now being brought out on it.
SO
In conclusion for me, Rock is actually be schooled by Cena who is saying 100% truthful stuff, Rock retaliates by acting like a child and calling Cena a Barney sized turd. Even though after Rock left, Cena practically carried the company for the next seven years and I believe that Rock can't stand that Cena is perhaps a bigger name than The Rock so he is now coming back trying to grab the world's attention again. For me, I am not taking it. Yes I am glad that The Rock has come back don't get me wrong but much like Cena said, he has fucked us around before. what's not to say he will do it again.
In this feud I am totally with Cena on this one!

Joel: What about The Rock? What are your thoughts on The Rock?
John: This is my take on The Rock, and he's a genuinely nice guy. I've met him; he's a fantastic human being. What I kind of get peeved about, and I guess this is my flaw, my Achilles heel, I hear it every day with young talent, with midcard talent, with people aspiring to make it in this business; I hear "I've wanted to do this my whole life."
Rock falls into that category. He, at one point, loved wrestling and wanted to do this all of his life. Explain to me why he can't come back for a 15th Anniversary show or why he can't make an appearance at Wrestlemania. Simply put it's because he wants to be an actor. There's nothing wrong with that, there's nothing wrong with that. He's a very good actor, he's very successful, he's done very well for himself and associating with sports entertainment doesn't do much for his acting career. It only helps out the sports entertainment audience so I get why he doesn't come back.
Just don't f*** me around and tell me that you love this when you are just doing this to do something else. That's the only thing that gets me really pissed off.
Joel: To come out to the ring, as a surprise, cut a promo, go back.
John: It'd be fantastic. The people would go nuts, and that's the thing, he has so much admiration from our audience. One thing I've learned from being a wrestler, or being on the other side of the barricade and being a fan, you almost don't realise it as a fan because you are a fan so much, you just go to everything. Being on the other side I learned how much of their hard earned dollars are spent on our product. And to have that much admiration still, when he hasn't been around, hasn't been on TV, you got to respect that from our fanbase and he just doesn't give anything back, man. I wish he'd just show up, just say "Hi" and leave; it's all he's got to do. Do the eyebrow once and get out of town. That's one thing that sweats me.
But like I said, he is a great guy, but we all know now that he wants to be an actor. There's nothing wrong with that because he's truly found another passion. He's good at acting, his films make money.

John's perspective is very interesting to me. Its borderline laughable.

Less than a month later Cena addressed what Rock said and gave his own counter argument saying:
Rock's a hardworking guy, he's a great guy. I'm just speaking as a selfish wrestling fan. The same kind of selfish wrestling fan who would boo me for whatever reason.
"Selfishly, I miss him in the ring. I wish he would come back. He is physically in his prime. One of the greatest sports entertainers we've ever had. But he's an actor now.
"The trouble is, here I am telling everybody I love the business — it's the same thing Rock said then went out and made movies. He's basically made my life tougher.
"I'd love to have him back. I'd love to have a Wrestlemania match with him — maybe next year. I would love that. That would be great."
