30 Man Honor Rumble winner goes onto main event the 2nd Year Anniversary Show
When it was announced back in January that ROH would hold the 2nd Year Anniversary in April and that it would be an epic three day event. there was something big to go down and it was then announced that the Honor Rumble would be returning to ROH for a second time, the winner was to get a world title shot at 2nd Year Anniversary in the main event of the entire weekend’s PPV. So who are the ones to look out for? Well one person is Crhistopher Daniels who got momentum by costing Tyler Black the World Championship at The Big Bang PPV. but also the former tag team champions Austin Aries and Tyler Black, since they won the belts in February 2010 from the tag team tournament they were on a huge roll, but after Aries won the first Honor Rumble there team dissolved and the momentum boost they have gained from beating amazing tag teams had gone away, now both singles wrestlers will help them in the match however there is speculation they may not be coming into the match at 100%. Another favourite is Abyss who in the last few months since his return has proven then he deserves to be in the title picture, coming so close in November in capturing the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship but fell short at the last hurdle, even though he lost the match, Abyss is on the hunt to become a world champion and the win in the Honor Rumble will guarantee him another chance to face the world champion Also with the arrival of talent in ROH that maybe coming to ROH for a one night deal or not, there is talk to see if they will win the rumble, seeing as they are new people expect them not to do much but ROH is all about giving people a chance and as we saw the last few months when given a chance wrestlers will jump all over it. With the inclusion of members of The Revolution in this match wanting to overtake the ROH locker room there will be a big fight atmosphere going into this match, the entire locker room will want to get there hands on The Revolution but with all the entrances to the Honor Rumble being kept a secret no-one will know until the event what number each wrestler will come out to, fuelling the rumours of whom might win. The prize for the winner, a guaranteed World Championship match at the main event of the 2nd Year Anniversary show ROH’s biggest show of the year and for the winner they will have the momentum coming out of the Honor Rumble but also a target on there back, there title match will not be until the fight night of the PPV and the events of Honor Rumble could lead to some severe backlash come the first two nights of the Anniversary PPV in April amongst other issues. With all that aside the main event of Glory By Honor at the Ocean City Convention Centre is close to happening as thirty men fight to be the last man standing and that man will have a guaranteed title match at the Second Year Anniversary Show, so the one big question on everyone’s mind is who will get the last chance before the Anniversary Show?

Ryder slowly crawls over and reaches his arm out getting the tag as Hawkins springboards off the ropes with a splash onto Benjamin covering for 1…2…NO! Benjamin kicks out. Haas turns Hawkins over going for the haas of pain but Hawkins grabs the ropes getting the break with ten minutes left in the match Haas waits for Hawkins to get up running at him but Hawkins drops the top rope as Haas goes sailing over the top to the outside but lands on his feet but Ryder from behind takes Haas down on the outside. Hawkins slowly climbs the turnbuckle looking to go for the diving elbow drop but misses as Haas rolls out of the way. Both men trying to get a tag in but Haas grabs hold of Hawkins and locks in the haas of pain submission. Ryder tries to get into the ring but Benjamin stops him, Hawkins is locked in the centre of the ring and has nowhere to go, Haas just wrenching tighter and tighter shouting at Hawkins to tap out but Hawkins tries to fight it but can’t any longer and taps out. Haas and Benjamin are announced the winners of the match and have there hands raised in victory, a somewhat easy victory for them tonight which helps them go top of the table with five points. Beer Money and Kings of Wrestling both have three points so if either team wins tonight then they will be tied with Benjamin and Hawkins and right there and then a tag match will take place to get a decisive winner but Benjamin and Haas can celebrate for now as they lead the table with the final match to go “The power and control is with Benjamin and Haas, they are the leaders and if Beer Money or Kings of Wrestling win, Benjamin and Haas will be slightly fresher going into a third match if needed here tonight, so Haas and Benjamin have done there work and made there bid for the Tag Team Championships but with the next match to come in a second, there bid may be going through another hurdle as this match will decide the fate of one of three teams so lets send it back to Bobby Cruise for this major match” “Ladies and Gentlemen the following contest is the final Round Three match of the Road To The Second Year Anniversary Tag Team Championship Tournament scheduled for one fall with a fifteen minute time limit. Should either Beer Money or Kings of Wrestling win the match then another match will start right away with the Worlds Greatest Tag Team and the winner of that match will go onto face Paul London and Brian Kendrick for the World Tag Team Championships at Ring of Honor’s 2nd Year Anniversary Show” (Play KOW/Beer Money) Both teams shake hands with each other in respect as they go to there corners and get ready for this huge match, Roode starting for Beer Money and Hero starting for Kings of Wrestling as the bells sounds for this very important match with the clock beginning to count down. Both men start circling around the ring as they lock up, Roode uses his power to push Hero back but Hero uses his quick legs to kick away at the side of Roode causing both to break the hold. Roode and Hero lock up again as Hero this times pushes Roode to the ropes as Roode grabs onto the ropes. Hero breaks the hold at a count of three. Hero walks back as Roode let’s go of the rope and slaps Hero across the face, Hero uses his flexibility to elbow Roode in the skull as Hero goes for a quick cover for 1…NO! Roode gets the shoulder. Roode gets straight back up and runs after Hero who uses his speed to keep a distance from Roode but eventually Roode is able to catch the trunks of Hero and starts to hammer away at the back with punches to the lower back followed by applying the sleeper hold but instead of synching it in, Roode uses his power and hits german suplex but still maintains the sleeper hold but Roode changes his hand position as it is now a rear naked choke. Hero is turning a bright red as he is inching towards the ropes as Roode is seen wrenching away at the neck of Hero but Hero somehow manages to get to the ropes and is looking dazed. With a little over thirteen minutes left remaining in the match. Hero gets back to his feet and is kicked in the stomach as Roode drops an elbow to the back of Hero’s head followed by a standing scissor kick as Hero goes down to the mat as Roode pulls Hero to his corner and tags in James Storm. Storm and Roode look at each other as they take a hold of Hero as Storm holds Hero in a piledriver position as Roode comes off the top rope and hits the piledriver as Hero just folds up like an accordion. Storm goes for a cover for 1…2…NO! Castagnoli makes sure to break the pinfall up saving the match. Storm takes the near lifeless body of Hero and throws him into the corner where he starts hammering away with punches and kicks as Storm climbs to the second turnbuckle and starts executing the ten punch as the crowd can be heard counting along but Hero spits in the face of Storm as Storm wipes the spit, Hero goes under Storm and with his speed and flexibility runs upside down to the ropes so his feet are touching the head of Storm as Storm comes flying from the second rope with a reverse hurricanrana. Hero gets to his feet and sees Storm down on the mat as Hero runs to the ropes and goes for the diving elbow but Storm gets his knees up as Hero rolls around the ring in pain. Both men get to there feet as Storm starts punching away at Hero but Hero ducks most of the incoming attacks as he goes to kick Storm but Storm grabs the foot of Hero as Hero then jumps and hits the spinning elbow as both men fall down to the mat. Hero crawls towards the cover for 1…2…NO! Storm gets the shoulder up with eleven minutes left in the match. Both men are seen looking at there tag team partner but Hero is able to tag in Claudio Castagnoli who runs over and dropkicks Storm in the chest as Castagnoli grabs the legs of Storm and pulls him to the centre of the ring. Castagnoli rolls Storm over as he applies a scorpion death lock as Storm is seen scratching and clawing on the mat as Castagnoli lowers himself and starts to sit on Storm’s back as he is just screaming so much and is gritting his teeth and is slowly making it to the ropes but Castagnoli pulls him back to the centre of the ring as Storm is still in complete agony but somehow Storm is able to turn around and pushes Castagnoli into the ropes but Castagnoli comes back and headbutts the chest of Storm as Castagnoli stands up and climbs the turnbuckle and jumps off going for a crossbody but Storm pulls the referee down on top of him as Castagnoli hits the ref as Castagnoli goes to check on the ref Storm is able to drag himself over and by this time a new ref is in the ring as Storm tags in Roode who goes straight after Castagnoli but Castagnoli sees this and drop toe holds Roode to the floor and applies the crossface as Roode is seen wriggling around and is shouting in pain as he quickly gets a foot onto the bottom rope as Castagnoli breaks up the hold at a count of four, with a little under nine minutes left in the match. Castagnoli picks up Roode and looks to go for a cradle piledriver but Roode rolls out of it and moves towards the ropes gaining momentum going for the lariat but Castagnoli sees this and kicks Roode in the gut and goes for the DDT but Roode reverses and goes for a spinebuster but Castagnoli counters and tries a hurricanrana but Roode counters again and goes for another lariat but Castagnoli notices this and rolls around Roode as he grabs Roode’s neck and lifts him in the air and drops him down looking as if he is about to do a cutter onto Roode but Castagnoli changes his hand position and goes for a small package for 1…2…NO! Roode gets the shoulder up Roode and Castagnoli both get to there feet and start nodding to each other as they go to shake hands in the centre of the ring but as they are about to Castagnoli kicks Roode in the gut and goes for the cradle piledriver and he hits it as Castagnoli goes for the cover for 1…2…NO! Storm breaks the pinfall up saving his partner and his team. Hero is seen on the top turnbuckle as Storm turns around as Hero hits the missile dropkick as Storm goes flying out of the ring but Hero is not done as he runs over the top rope with senton to the outside on Storm. Castagnoli gets back to his feet in the ring and picks up Roode as both men just start slugging it out with each other when Castagnoli goes to kick Roode in the gut but Roode grabs a hold of Castagnoli’s leg and viciously drags Castagnoli towards him dropping him with a stiff sounding clothesline. Roode takes his chance as he picks Castagnoli up to the top turnbuckle and starts climbing starting to hammer away at the back of Castagnoli going for the superplex but as he is about to execute the move he is met with a stiff elbow to the back of the head by Hero as Roode just falls down to the mat and Castagnoli falls down to the mat as well. Hero gets to the apron and is willing for Castagnoli to tag him in as Castagnoli gets within fingertip distance as Roode grabs a hold of Castagnoli’s leg but Castagnoli hits a enzuguri as Roode falls backwards and Castagnoli tags in Hero who jumps over the top rope and with a charge goes straight after Roode with rights and lets followed by a snap suplex and a cover for 1…2…NO! Roode kicks out, with a little less than five minutes remaining in the match Hero picks up Roode and starts kicking him in the chest followed by a reverse elbow strike which knocks Roode down as Hero runs to the ropes and hits his pendulum elbow as he motions to the crowd and climbs to the top turnbuckle looking for the diving elbow drop as he jumps off but Roode rolls out of the way as both men are on the mat. The ref counting both men out, we are under four minutes left in the match. Roode is the first to his feet as he grabs Hero and drags him to his corner and tags in Storm who gets straight to work by hitting a DDT onto Hero. Storm gets back to his feet although very wobbly and goes to pick Hero up but Hero sweeps the legs of Storm followed by dropping a knee to the legs and taking Storm’s legs and applying the texas clover leaf submission as Storm is in agony again as Roode comes in to break the submission he is attacked by Castagnoli who throws him out of the ring as Hero breaks the submission attempt. Both men fall down to the mat as the clock counts down 10..9…8…7…6…5…Hero crawls over and trying to get a cover 4...3…2…Hero covers Storm for 1…2…NO! The buzzer sounds as the crowd just boo heavily, neither team was able to beat the other and because of this the Worlds Greatest Tag Team have won the tournament and are getting a World Tag Team Championship match at 2nd Year Anniversary. Beer Money and KOW slowly get to there feet beaten and battered but both teams have respect for each other as all four men shake hands with each other, tonight they drew but one day they know they will be able to go at it with each other and there will be a winner. “Wow what can you say, this match was great, both teams tried there best to get the win but the time expired for them, Worlds Greatest Tag Team are the winner and will get the World Tag Team Championship match against London and Kendrick at the 2nd Year Anniversary show, what a match but I hear JB is backstage with the one and only interview tonight” “Thank you Joey Styles, JB backstage right now with the current Ring of Honor-“ “Whoa whoa whoa, JB CURRENT, Ring of Honor, you need to start thinking what you say, I have been champion for one year, do you know what that makes me, that makes me a great champion, better then The Rock, better than John Cena, better than Hulk Hogan, I have defended this belt all over the United States and tonight will be an example of my ability. It maybe non-title but it might as well be a title match, you see Benoit you’re a good wrestler but your not a World Champion, something you will never be whilst in NWA and if you ever came to ROH, your career would be cut short so take tonight as a warning, leave ROH now whilst you have the chance. But after tonight whoever wins the Honor Rumble, be prepared for the most disappointing night of your life because I don’t plan on losing this championship belt for a VERY, VERY long time!” Orton leaves the locker room as JB sends it back to ringside for the next match of the evening. “Ladies and Gentlemen it is now time for your Interpromotional Non-Title match of the evening and is scheduled for one fall” (Play Benoit/Orton) Both Orton and Benoit have the championship belts around there waist. Benoit the Pure Champion and Orton becoming a Year long champion with this match tonight. NWA owners DM and BM are in attendance in the crowd, Orton sees this and flips them off. DM and BM remaining calm and cheer on for there wrestler Chris Benoit. Both men relinquish there championships to the referee who hands them to the time-keeper. Calling for the bell to start this huge match off. The ROH crowd split on whom to cheer for in this match, Randy Orton has become one of the most hated wrestlers in history for the way he carries himself but Chris Benoit is part of a rival organisation and holds an ROH Championship, something the ROH crowd is not a fan off, there is a big feel going into this match then, neither man having a clear advantage as they just stare at each other. It was seven years ago that Randy Orton beat Chris Benoit to claim his first World Championship so that is playing on everyone’s mind but Benoit has come so far since that day in 2004. this match is not only for bragging rights but it is gutcheck for Randy Orton, the winner of the Honor Rumble faces Orton at the 2nd Year Anniversary show so this match could prove vital to the winner. Orton and Benoit slowly make there way to the centre of the ring. Benoit slowly extends the hand adhering to the code of honor being brought into this match. Orton very slowly and reluctantly shakes Benoit’s hand as they both back away into there corners. They slowly start to circle the ring and lock up. Benoit kicks out getting to his feet, Orton going after him but Benoit catches him taking him down going for the crossface but Orton grabs hold of the ropes getting the break and rolling to the outside getting a breather and some space between both men. Orton walking back and forth on the outside wondering what to do. Benoit shouting at Orton to get back in the ring, the ref counting Orton out but Orton slowly walks up the steps and gets onto the ring apron shouting at the ref to keep Benoit away from him. The ref pushes Benoit back as Orton slowly gets into the ring but Benoit wont be denied as he goes right after Orton with a series of chops sending Orton into the corner, chop after chop can be heard echoing throughout the arena as Benoit is just kicking Orton down in the corner, being counted out but Benoit stops at a count of four. Trying to get his hands over the eyes of Orton so that he can’t see but Orton is fighting it as much as possible. Inching himself closer and closer to the ropes but Benoit breaks the hold and pulls Orton back going for it again but Orton counters pushing Benoit away and taking him down with a roll up and a hand full of tights for 1…2…NO! Orton slowly building momentum with a scoop slam and a second knee drop covering Benoit for 1…2…NO! Benoit kicks out. Orton waits for Benoit to get to his feet clotheslining him over the top rope to the outside as Orton falls down to one knee catching his breath from the vicious chops of Benoit. The ref counting Benoit out, Benoit trying to roll onto his stomach and grab hold of the ring apron pulling himself up onto it at a count of five. Orton goes after Benoit and right into a shoulder tackle and a second and third. Benoit goes for a suplex from the ring to the outside but Orton fights it off with a thumb to the eye of Benoit. Orton drags Benoit through the second rope holding his head and looking at the crowd going for the spike DDT but Benoit counters getting his feet onto the mat and taking Orton down with a back body drop. Benoit waits for Orton to get to his feet taking him down with a running forearm. Benoit building momentum takes Orton down with a snap suplex covering Orton for 1…2…NO! Orton kicks out. Benoit slowly rises to his feet and gives the cut throat gesture as he climbs the turnbuckle looking to go for the diving headbutt but Orton catches him and slowly climbs the turnbuckle himself, Orton and Benoit are fighting back and forth. Benoit gets the advantage pushing Orton off the turnbuckle and down to the mat. Benoit jumps off with the headbutt but Orton counters as Benoit goes right into the knees of Orton. Both men are down as the referee are counting them out. The crowd in a mixed turn of events are willing both men on. Orton slowly crawling to the ropes picking himself up at a count of seven as he stumbles over to Benoit and stomps away at the head of Benoit, moving to the arms and lower chest, just stomping any vital limbs or anything that can give Orton an advantage, moving right round Benoit’s body then dropping an elbow to the chest covering Benoit for 1…2…NO! Benoit kicks out. Orton slowly picks up Benoit and throws him back into the ropes taking him down with a powerslam covering for 1…2…NO! Benoit kicks out. Orton slowly inching himself closer and closer to the ropes but Benoit sees this and pulls Orton right back into the centre of the ring. Orton gritting his teeth and digging into the mat trying to escape but Benoit is not letting go. Orton trying to turn over to get Benoit to release the pressure but Benoit is fighting it as Orton slowly sits up and grabs Benoit into a bridging pin for 1…2…NO! Benoit lifts up Orton and spins him around going for the crossface but Orton counters into the inverted backbreaker as both men fall down to the mat. The referee starting to count both men out again, getting to a count of six and Orton slowly begins to move using the ropes to help him get to his feet but is wobbly from the sharpshooter. Orton takes Benoit and slowly takes him to his feet elbowing him in the face knocking him into the ropes but Benoit comes back with a kick but Orton catches this and picks Benoit up and down with a samoan drop. Orton slowly crawls over and grabs Benoit’s legs and locks in the figure four leg lock with woos coming from the crowd. Orton can’t lock it in tight enough from the pain of the sharpshooter but has it in just enough for maximum pain for Benoit who is squirming and crying out in pain. Orton just has it locked in enough as Benoit is trying to crawl on his back to get to the ropes but Orton pulls him back to the centre. Benoit with his shoulders down on the mat getting counted out for 1…2…NO! Benoit picks them back up as he slowly starts to roll over. Orton hasn’t got the leg strength to pull him back as Benoit reverses putting the pressure onto the legs of Orton who quickly breaks the hold. Both men are crawling on the mat and are on there knees as they chop each other back and forth. Both men slowly getting to there feet. Benoit running to the ropes as does Orton, both men taking each other down with a clothesline as the ref starts counting both men out again the ref gets to a count of six as both men start to move both using the ropes to get to there feet. Benoit rises to his feet and gives the cut throat gesture again as he climbs the turnbuckle and jumps off with the diving headbutt covering Orton for 1…2…NO! Orton kicks out to Benoit’s disbelief. Benoit slowly gets to his feet and waits for Orton to get to his feet going for the crippler crossface but Orton counters right into an RKO! Orton cant capitalise on it quick enough, Orton slowly crawls over and puts one arm over the chest of Benoit covering for 1…2…NO! Benoit kicks out to the shock of Orton. The crowd somewhat now cheering for Orton ironically as he slowly moves backwards to the corner and slowly gets to his feet just seething from the mouth waiting for Benoit going for the punt kick but Benoit counters into the crossface taking Orton down and wrenching on the neck, Orton just yelling in pain, Benoit trying to get his arms over the eyes of Orton to block his view but Orton is fighting back slowly inching himself to the ropes but starts to fade away. Benoit just has it locked in tight as the ref picks up Orton’s arm and it drops for one, the ref does it again, drops for two, a third and final time and Orton has life left in him just inching himself to the ropes and grabbing it getting the break, Benoit breaks the hold at a count of four and slowly moves away from Orton letting him get up. Orton slowly rises to his feet as he is handed his World Championship and raises it high. Orton turns around right into a superkick from Tyler Black who takes the World Championship and holds it high to massive boos from the crowd “Well I cant say I am not shocked of the post-match attack from Black, again making another statement but this man cant face someone at 100% he has to attack them after they have had a gruelling match, but what a match it was, both men went toe to toe with each, Benoit gave it his best but Orton was just able to squeak out a victory but ladies and gentlemen this is another reason to go and watch Supercard coming in just a few weeks live on PPV, but ladies and gentlemen it’s now time for the main event, the Honor Rumble. The winner will face Randy Orton at the 2nd Year Anniversary show for the World Championship, who is that man going to be, lets find out!”

We cut back to the ring where Batista is dominating taking Aries and throws him hard into the turnbuckle just beating him down in the corner. Daniels from behind attacking Batista but Batista turns around and floors Daniels with a sickening clothesline. Batista takes Aries and looks to eliminate him but again Aries lands on the ring apron. Batista gets the advantage looking to batista bomb Aries onto the outside but Aries counters with a headscissors sending Aries into the ring and Batista getting his throat hung on the top rope. Batista holding onto the ropes as Daniels hits Batista in the head, Batista falling backwards but holding on as Daniels attacks with chops and punches to the chest and face trying to eliminate Batista but Batista comes back with a hard knee to the gut. Aries goes after Batista but gets pushed back. Aries rolls back and runs at Batista hitting him with a dropkick but Batista still holds on. WGTT vs. H/R - Well this was the opening match and it was pretty solid, quick though and with the momentum Hawkins and Ryder had, this was a bit of an upset as Haas and Benjamin score the win. Surprising as I said but still not too bad to open the show.
Beer Money vs. Kings of Wrestling - Now this was a far superior tag match compared to the other one, all the time went into this match for sure. Castignoli and Storm literally stole the show in this one. Once you started with the count down I started to kick myself since I nearly called the ending. Beer Money was my pick to win this whole thing but NO time runs out and it's a draw thus giving Benjamin and Haas the first crack at the vacant titles. Dammit!
Orton cuts a promo that he's been a champion for a year thus putting him in high ranks though granted it was a non title match it almost seemed that his title reign was going to be saved win, lose or draw so I was a bit down already. However, Benoit and Orton put on a champions classic, knowing neither title was on the line. It seemed the RKO was a flawed move in this one or Chris was just super pumped up, these two worked so dammed well together though I was wondering how many RKO's it might take to keep Chris down. Then I found out as Orton Countered the Crossface into an RKO, that I wasn't seeing and he caught the surprise win, Orton defends his year long reign and Benoit sadly goes with an L at ROH.
The Honor Rumble was actually a bit better than I thought, no one, other than Shaemus, really got squashed, surprised I didn't see Mike Knox in there but eh who knows. Nigel looked real strong in the match, Nash was of course epic until Trips Eliminated him via sledgehammer, seems the Game is getting his balls back, surprisingly Aries and Daniels were ending the show on this one, I have a feeling they did this once before too then again I'm also thinking his bout with Orton. Needless to say there was no real 'dominate' member in the rumble other than Big Show and the rEvolution (you can market that) getting their shots in. Black got the ever loving piss knocked out of him via Batista I believe it was and figured he'd be out of the match, in the end Black tosses both Aries and Daniels out, finally getting his shot at the World Title...though then I remember...is he the face or the heel of the team which is split up?
Either way pretty good show on this one, everything flowed rather nicely and this is the first PPV I believe that went without ONE title defense, a bit different for a show but it's something new. Can't wait to see what ROH's Anniversary show will bring as NWA also has their's in March.

The opening tag bout was short, to the point and surprising in its result. A solid tag match if a bit short.
The next tag match: A fantastic tag bout. Loved the innovation of some of the moves the Kings did. Match of the night other than the big one. The draw again makes sense for that tally. Hope Beer Money get going soon though.
Orton should have defended the title in my mind, there was no reason not to considering the result and what he said in the promo. However this was an amazing match. Loved the use of both men. You managed to top their Summerslam 04 match which is impressive. But man like DM said Benoit just no sold that RKO like a motherfucker.
Your rumble was a very well put together one. Their was interweaving fueds and stories. I was surprised at the treatment of Shemus (given up like I did with MVP due to the real guys use?), loved the use of Big show and laughed out loud at Nash. Bastista looked like a beast which is hard to do considering my distaste for him most days. And H...wow Triple H is the MAN again, wonder where this will go. Would have liked to see one of the long runners Aries and Daniels win but that is part of it. Black is now offically the heel...even though he was turned on. Yeah Roh is wierd like that. But overal a fantastic rumble match.
