Now I know I am going to get alot of backlash for this but if you listen back to previous BTM's I kept saying that HBK should NOT be inducted into the HOF in 2011...Why? Because Wrestlemanina is in Atlanta the home of WCW. HBK going into the hall of fame has now destroyed the entire perception of a WCW hall of fame. Granted again I don't like the idea of a WCW hall of Fame going into the WWE Hall of Fame bearing in mind most WCW wrestlers had short stints in WWF that were pretty bad, the only few that deserve to be in the WWE HOF, is Arn Anderson, Goldberg and maybe a few others that I haven't thought of.
This is my problem though, take Wrestlemania 25, the HOF ceremony was all about Austin, a guy who was only popular for around 3-4 years at most. The head guy which alot of fans wanted to see put in was Ricky Steamboat a guy who was popular throughout his ENTIRE career and SHOULD have been the main attraction. But because Stone Cold garnered them more money he was the focus point. My point with HBK is that it is TOO early. As great a career HBK has had in his life, he need not be in the HOF for at least 2-3 years. There are other people that need to go into the HOF as well. Basically whoever goes into the HOF in 2011 is worthless because like Austin the focus is all on Michaels which I find wrong.
I am not against HBK being in the HOF, HELL NO! If anything HBK should have his own wing of the Hall of Fame, his career was phenomonal BUT this is what happens when WWE shoot themselves in the foot and put too many people into the HOF that could have been the focal point.
In conclusion HBK going into the HOF should happen but not for 2011, like I said if HBK went into the HOF from 2013 onwards then I would agree but this seems too rushed and HBK going into a WCW themed Hall of Fame is just wrong and spoils the entire aura of what this years HOF could have been.
Great Idea WWE, just bad choice of timing!
