All right, now that Survivor Series 2010 is over and done, it's time for me to give an analysis.
.) Daniel Bryan defends US Championship vs. Ted DiBiase: Great way to start off the night, despite the fact that there were lighting problems during the start of it. Either way, whatever. Ted and Bryan really set the tone that night, that it was a young talent's company now, as these two put on a stellar match, what a way to get the crowd pumped up. Lots of good action, good wrestling, and overall, good psychology. 3.5/5, great match.
.) John Morrison vs. Sheamus: I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting too much out of this match. What I got instead was another great match. John Morrison shined well, and Sheamus's ferocity was somewhat put on display, but he still worked a pretty solid match. JoMo going over, I did NOT see coming at all, as I predicted Sheamus to take it. Excellent match, and proof, again, that it's a young talent's company now. 3/5
.) Dolph Ziggler defends IC Championship vs. Kaval: I predicted an awesome match. I predicted correctly. Kaval and Ziggler pulled moves that I haven't seen done in a long friggin' time, and it was just a non-stop joyride from start to finish. Kaval somehow landing on his feet with that corkscrew moonsault flip thing and NOT hurting himself was definitely a highlight, as was Kaval's kick straight into Ziggler's unprepared face, which probably concussed him, and broke his nose. Ziggler going over, albeit by cheating, I'm okay with, but I was wrong on this prediction as well, as I thought Kaval would win. 3.5/5
.) Team Mysterio vs. Team Del Rio, Traditional Survivor Series Match: Okay, I have a few things to say about this. Firstly, the hometown hero getting eliminated first? HAHAHAHAHAHA. I was laughing my ass off... sorry MVP, but people don't care about you any more. Chris Masters getting eliminated next? Sorry Chris Masters, no one cared in the first place. The only major gripe I have with this match is that... AGAIN... Mysterio comes out smelling like a rose. I'm sorry, but for this build up and feud to have many any sense, Del Rio should've gone over, as Mysterio winning does NOTHING for his career, or this feud anymore. Also, Del Rio was never actually eliminated, so I'm sure they'll pull that card out in the storylines. Overall though, very enjoyable match. 3/5
.) LayCool defends Divas Championship vs. Natalya: Okay, this was a decent women's match in a time where decent women's matches are a rarity. Also, Natalya going over, I have no problem with, I'm happy, although I predicted LayCool to retain again. Then.... HOLY SHIT BETH PHOENIX!!!! I'm so ecstatic over her coming back. Thank god, maybe we'll get better women's matches again? Yeah right, but I can dream can't I? Oh well, I'll just go back and watch SHIMMER, which has MsChif... that'll satisfy me. =) Short and sweet match, 2.5/5
.) Kane defends World Heavyweight Championship vs. Edge: Okay, I have several problems with this match. First problem, shitty build up. Really, they didn't even fucking try with this. It seems like that if Kane isn't in a feud with The Undertaker, they have no idea what the fuck to do with him. 2, the match was slow paced, but what do you expect from a 300 pounder and a guy who can't run as much as he used to anymore? The psychology was off, too. 3, THE FUCKING ENDING! Seriously, they pulled a fucking Vince Russo with this fuckin' bullshit, I did NOT pay to see this fucking craptastic ending to what was already going to be a craptastic match in the first place. GODDAMN I hate these stupid fucking endings, they're why I stopped watched TNA. Don't bring them to WWE, now. 2/5
.) The Nexus defends Tag Team Championship vs. Santino Marella and Vladimir Koslov: Nexus wins. Did we expect anything less? At least it was pretty enjoyable, and easy to watch and follow. 2.5/5
.) Randy Orton defends WWE Championship vs. Wade Barret. If Orton wins, Cena's fired, if Barrett wins, Cena's free from Nexus: Okay, I also have a few problems with this match. 1, the build up. SERIOUSLY, the WWE Title should never, ever, EVER take a backseat to another story going into a title defense. It devalues the title so fuckin' much. 2, the match psychology was nowhere. This was a very hard match to watch, something just doesn't click. I don't know if it's because of who he wrestled against, but it seems that Randy Orton just doesn't wrestle at the level he used to anymore. Maybe it's just Barrett. 3, the focus was on Cena the entire match. That shouldn't happen. This is a WWE Championship match, the focus should be on the title changing hands, or staying with the champion. NOT with an outside source of interest in the match. Titles should ALWAYS come first in the wrestling business. 4, the ending. Seriously, it doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Clearly, Orton as champion isn't working, since fans didn't even cheer when he won, and seemingly didn't care about the match. Also, the storyline has lost direction. The correct thing to do would've been to have Cena either turn full-blown heel, or call the match down the middle, have Barrett win, then have Miz cash in. But of course, they wouldn't THINK to do anything that intelligent, since this is WWE. Anyway, Barrett shoves Cena, Cena shoves Barrett into a waiting RKO, Orton gets the 3, keeps the belt, Cena's fired. Not enjoyable to watch, hard to follow, bad ending. 2/5
Overall: Survivor Series was a really enjoyable show until the main events, which is usually how it seems to go nowadays. The undercard got more time than the main events did, and the undercard matches were a LOT more enjoyable to watch and get into. The main events? Not even close. 7.5/10
