Hello folks DM here from The Blacklist and here are some of my thoughts on the Status of TNA.
Right now...it's in utter hell. First off, Hogan needs to be a financial backer and NOTHING more. Entering the ring again proved NOTHING as the fans cared less about it, hense the rating. Honestly, Hogan is not a name anymore, he is a legend don't get me wrong but he is not a name, people want to pay to see John Cena, AJ Styles, Jeff Hardy, Joe, etc, not, Hogan. As big as his ego is and however much he says he'll do what's right for the business, let me ask you this, in the last two months since he took over...what is the biggest rating they had? Secondly, if he was to do what's right, how the hell did Kong and Daniels end up gone from the roster? Point proven, Hogan is a financial backer and nothing more.
Second, Bischoff is a wonderful promoter, he knows people in the right places and INSTANTLY draws heat...keep that. Adding the 'face' 'confused' Hogan to this mix, screws this chemistry up. Bish, take over for good.
Three, hiring Anderson, Kendrick, Hardy, RVD, Nasty Boys, good job hiring either talent WWE didn't care for, were retired OR needed to go to a place where there was NO drug testing ( sorry Jeff, truth hurts. ) These are guys that WWE either gave constant chances to succeed and blew it, or, had no more use for and lets face, not worth the money. TNA see's potential in a talent roster that, lets face it, doesn't always show up on time, or, hasn't wrestled a match in 5+ years.
Four, still in a studio? Really? Raw goes to arenas, TNA...studios. You can't make ANY exposure that way NOR draw any revenue. If TNA wants to be serious, step out of the circus lights and pull into the bigger arenas. It worked for WWE and look whom is still standing.
Five, either cut a promo and stick with it, or drop it altogether. TNA has a huge problem with either cutting away or not explaining anything on their product.
Six, seriously, fire Dixie Carter, she's worthless. She has little knowledge of wrestling and TNA's Founder Jarrett (love him or hate him) is getting screwed, again, by big bucks whom are destroying what he built.
Seven, yeah I know TNA isn't PG, that's wonderful, but 40 mins of promo and 20 mins of wrestling, doesn't do it for me. Hell, show us more of the X Division and why it's so different, NOT just on PPV.
Eight, yeah I know there's a lot, while changing the ring back to it's traditional roots, doesn't change the image of TNA but it does make it easier to identify, though they have a huge problem pushing 'younger' talent. Might I make a mention, Angle/Anderson is the big fued now and no word of....Wolfe? TNA needs to focus on pushing younger talent, not just AJ, but all of them in equal spurts. Granted Pope is getting a push, but I smell a...Kofi push on this one.
Nine, trying to compete with WWE trying to be 'Anti' WWE will NOT work. First they have to establish themselves THEN go after WWE. Right now they're in a hole and can't pull themselves out of the water and are trying to be bigger and better. Nothing wrong with competition, BUT, TNA needs to work on itself before going forward.
Ten, and finally, TNA's biggest problem is there are too many cooks in the kitchen. I will not write out the list of writers they have, but lets face it, Russo has done nothing and Carter is an endless pit of money with everyone putting their hand in the cookie jar trying to control it. Remember this, Main Event Mafia was their biggest stable in years, hint, they're all WWE Former talents whom all held the title, minus Sting. How well did it push young talent...it didn't.
TNA has a lot of problems, and yes the wrestling can be 'good at best' but lets face it, production is meager at best, the writing staff is flawed, the atmosphere is dismal and the Pay Per Views are the ONLY thing keeping them afloat and that..is a challenge. In two months, TNA lost, Foley, Kong and Daniels and in their place picked up Flair, Hogan, Hardy, RVD and the Nasty's. A trade off? Not really. Sad to say, ROH will do a lot better after Hogan gets done with TNA.
For a year I have been told to 'watch' TNA for something different, the problem is, I saw it in WcW and it's not different, it's 1999 repeated. Old talent takes over, young talent gets picked up elsewhere and Hogan walks off with a payout...coincidence?
