The fans at first went nuts then went angered seeing that it was Arn Anderson coming down the aisleway and entering the ring. They were not going to forgive him for what he did to the Horsemen, though he came alone, standing tall.
"You know I would expect more from you people, but that's okay, I forget I'm not in ROH anymore. See my tenure there was something I'll never forget, never once were four fingers tossed up or was the name 'Enforcer' used while I stayed there. I was an actual human being and not just some name from twenty years ago. So when the draft happened and I was traded back home to the NWA, I was at first glad, then angry when all I heard was 'Horsement Reunion' 'Enforcer' as if, that's the only thing I'm known for. During my time, I watched what Ric Flair had done with the name Horseman, bastardizing them into his own faction as if he was the reason why it existed. You know why the Horsemen existed....it's because...of me. If I hadn't kept that group together all those years, Flair's ego would have destroyed it. So when I came back here, I knew, I had to be the one to end it once and foreall. The Horsemen are dead, and they're never coming back....and as far as you go Flair....look into my eyes when I tell you this....if I ever hear.....see...or even know you're in the same building as I am....I'll make sure that not only your career....but you.....will be over. I'm Arn Fucking Anderson...your future...World Champion....bet on it!"
[Play Priceless]
They came down to the ring, overjoyed over their yet again, victory over another team. No matter what combination came their way they were able to destroy them it seemed as they stood in the middle of the ring, already in their wrestling gear with grins upon their faces. DiBiase asking for a mic.
"Ladies and Gentleman, the search, for my father's Million Dollar Title Belt....is over. It took us a little while but we were finally able to find it, so Dad, since it is Father's Day,if you would please, come on down and recieve your Million Dollar Belt."
[Play Out]
DiBiase would smirk as he made it into the ring, laughing all the while as his son would hand it right back to him as it was wrapped in a bag. DiBiase laughed taking the mic.
"If it couldn't be any sweater, finally, the Million Dollar Team is complete and now everybody knows that with my brains and money, and their talent and charisma, there is nothing that can stop us. Although I do have to ask son, where did you find it and who did you destroy for it.?"
Ted Jr. would speak up.
"After our match at New Blood Rising, it almost made sense to us so we had no choice but to enter the search for it and prove to you that we knew we could get it back to you. Even though the last few months you were no where to be seen from our corner, that didn't stop us on our quest for the title belt that solely belongs to you and was stolen in an act of cowardice by....your own...Son."
DiBiase went from grins to frowns in a second, slowly turning his head and looked at his son with confused eyes as Priceless then hit DiBiase with Lock/Stock and Barrel, laying him out. The crowd was...somewhat confused as to what was going on as Ted would guid traffic as both of them would litearlly beat the hell out of DiBiase, placing him on the top rope and hit a double superplex from the top rope as DiBiase picked up the mic.
"I didn't need you then...and we...don't need you now. We have taken out tag team after tag team without you, so from here on out, we're going solo...oh...and don't worry about your title....Oh..and Happy Father's Day....Dad"
Rhodes would place the title upon the mat holding a sledge hammer, raising it up and would smash it to pieces as they left it in shambles, leaving the ring with their tag team titles in hand. (Save for BM)
The next week on Nitro, Priceless had a match with DDP and Mr. Perfect again, and if DDP and Perfect won, they would receive another shot at the NWA Tag Team Champs at the Great American Bash. After a 20 minute stellar tag match, Priceless was able to steal the victory, with Cody Rhodes hitting a school boy on DDP, using the ropes for more leverage, getting the 3. Later on Nitro, Priceless came out with their belts, in well-pressed suits, having something to say. Cody would take the mic first.
"We told the world that we were the best tag team in wrestling today, and we proved it at New Blood Rising, and three days ago on Nitro. We gave DDP and Perfect another chance at the tag team titles, and they blew their oppurtunity."
"That's right, Cody. We were born better, and we've proven it time and time again. We proved it when we won the titles, and we prove it every single month when we walk out with the titles. We told BM last month that no matter what team he threw at us, no matter what team he could come up with, we'd beat them down. I mean, just look at us. We're young. Talented. Attractive. Rich! We are the epitome of what Tag Team champions should be!"
(Play Out)
John Morrison came out to a thunderous ovation, while his signature entrance hit, complete with the pyro, the wind, and the slow-mo that he never explains to anyone.
"Attractive? Please. You guys don't know what attractive is. Look at this body. These abs are so chiseled, you can sharpen knives on them. My legs are so well defined and powerful that I can push a train... OFF the tracks. When my nipples get hard, I chisel marble sculptures! Of myself, of course..."
Cody would grab the microphone from Ted's hand.
"Look who it is, another loser from the NWA roster. And now he's trying to save his ass because he lost to a better athlete last night, so he's trying to make fun of us by telling us how much prettier he is compared to us. Let me ask you something, John. What kind of man goes around looking at other men the way you do? You check men's physiques out and compare them to your own. If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were insecure."
"Insecure? What do I have to be insecure about? I'm the Shaman of Sexy, the Guru of Greatness, the Epitome of Epic, the Conisseur of Consummation, the Desirable Duke of Dreaminess, the Oracle of Orgasm, I'm long strong and can keep the ladies happy all week long, the Keeper of the Palace of Wisdom, John Morrison!"
"Are you done?"
"Almost. All I've got to say is this, I'm a former tag team champion, and I'm laying out the challenge. If I find a partner, will you accept my challenge?"
Ted laughed out loud, taking the microphone.
"Okay, JoMo... if you can find a partner that can even tolerate you for 30 seconds, we'll give you and your partner a tag team title shot."
"Are you kidding Ted? He'd probably bring a mirror to the ring!"
JoMo would retort quickly.
"As awesome of an idea that would be, because let's face it, if I was either of you, I'd have me as a partner too... I've found someone better than me."
(Play Out)
Rick Rude would come out as he did indeed, prove that he was better than John Morrison. Whether or not he was better looking, that was hotly argued amongst themselves. Rude would take the mic.
"What I'd like to have right now... is for you two money hungry, self loathing, millionaire morons... keep the noise down while I take my robe off and show you what REAL tag team champions look like! Hit the music!"
Rude would take off his robe and display a pair of trunks that were airbrushed with Rude on one leg, and Morrison on the other, each holding the NWA World Tag Team championships, as NWA went off the air.
Match One - Priceless vs. Sex Appeal for the NWA World Tag Team Titles.
Victoria would have been all smiles being crowned the new women's champion however over the last few weeks she had to defend her title against Luna Vachon and Molly Holly to retain a strong title reign. Victoria though felt a little empty knowing she didn't defeat the champion for the title, therefore, the problems she had while defending it, knowing she was at the moment a paper champion, needing to voice her opinion in front of the crowd.
[Play out]
"Look I won't take up your time, the truth of the matter is, while holding this title is sweet, I did not defeat the champion, thus making me...a paper champion. So therefore-
[Play Out]
The tension was already building as these two women literally hated each other and their past matches told the story indeed. Vampriss went nose to nose with her, extending her palm out and got a mic in her palm.
"Paper champion, don't even start with that, don't even try to be noble. You and I both know the reason why you won that title, and that's because of Stevie Richards. Don't you dare stand there and tell me that you don't know anything about that, I remember how you two used to be an item. So I want another shot at that title and no one is going to stop me from getting it."
[Play out]
Nattie came down to the ring, she was not at all happy with the way the match ended, entering the ring while rubbing her jaw.
"I'm not here to play games, Vampriss was not the only one screwed in the match, but I was as well. If it wasn't for Stevie Richard's kicking me in the jaw, Vampriss would have gone down and you would have been next."
Victoria took exception to that, getting right in Nattie's face.
"There is no way you would have beaten me little girl. You're a small fish in a big pond, and right now I'm the shark that runs that pond so you wouldn't have done a dammed thing. So get back in line."
The tension was building as Nattie spoke up, defending herself.
"I don't care if you're a widow, a shark or the champion in the ocean of chance, I can bend you into a pretzel and make you scream. I am a Hart Legacy and I woudl be more than happy to kick your American Ass as the Bash and take what's mine."
"Scuse me love" Vampriss would interject "But if there's one thing you're not is a former champion, and lets face it, European...especially, British Wrestlers are the best in this business bar none, and me and Victoria...are this close to ending this fued. So what do you say love? One more time for that title?"
[Play DM]
"Oooh man, I couldn't think of this even if I wrote it myself. Man you three are really going at it...but the facts are true that Steven Richards did interfere in the match at New Blood Rising. So I'll tell you what I have in store. Since both Nattie and Vampriss were the ones whom got 'screwed' out of the title, I am going to offer them a rematch....in a triple threat rules at the Great American Bash for the NWA Women's Title. Oh...and there is....one....other thing....since I cannot control whom comes down to the ring....I can control....who goes in....so you three...will have your match....in a 15 Foot High..Steel Cage. Ladies....Goodluck."
Match 2 - Victoria vs. Vamrpriss vs. Natalya - For the NWA Women's Title in a Steel Cage.
[Play Out Misawa]
Misawa came down to the ring, having missed a few weeks of action due to touring in Japan, looking out at the crowd with a small sneer of his nose, taking a mic from one of the ring hands.
"Ever since...I came back to America...I could literally feel, the disrespect and the jealousy coming from all of your eyes. Because you all know that there is not one man whom can say they are a better athlete, a better wrestler, a better success, than myself, a pure japanesse icon. And here we are, heading to the Great American Bash, what's the celebrate. So again I am laying down a challenge to any American...I'll even extend it to even European and Canadian challenger to face me at the Bash and prove just how right I am-"
[Play out]
Eddie Guerrero was more than happy to make the challenge as he came down to the ring all smiles and everything, rolling inside as he took the mic from Misawa.
"Viva la Eddie! Ey homes how's it goin' man? You mean to tell me...that any American...or Canadian or even European can challenge you at the Great American Bash and whoop your keister is that it?"
"Yes....I did say-"
"I thought that's what you said man. You see I've been in Japan before too and I gotta say it's nice there man. I mean they got some mamacitas es saki, ooh that saki es mi loco vato. Anyway, so, you, want a challenge match at the Bash is that right?"
"Yes...for the second-"
"Oh why din you say so homes then I would love to be the one...to kick your ass all around New York. You may be the Master of the Emerald Flowsion...but there is no way you can fight off my Latino Heat essay."
"Then....I'll see you...at the Bash."
Eddie would then shake his hand, bowing his head and would leave the ring, smirking some as he had something in his hand, Misawa, checking his wrist as he saw his watch was missing, going after Guerrero but the match was still on.
Match 3 - Misawa vs. Guerrero.
After the events at New Blood Rising, Sting had been carried out of the ring though it seemed that Kane's wrath was far from over as he would attack him from behind, literally beating the crap out of Sting, hitting a tombstone upon the concrete as Sting was forced and rushed to the hospital. Kane would spend the next two weeks literally attacking anything and everyone once again leaving everything in his wake, it appeared that Kane was on a rampage of destruction and no one could stop him, especially with Sting now missing in action. During a match between Vader and Bambam, a match that the fans had been dying to see since it was a Japan classic, the lights went out and Kane would interfere, however bringing Sting's ballbat and began to clean house with it, decimating Bambam in his tracks until locking eyes with the Man They Call Vader. Both men would go nose to nose as Vader wasted no time in striking first, punching Kane to the corner and hit two Avalance Splashes on him, picking him up with ease with a belly to belly suplex then finished him off with a big time leg drop.
Vader wasn't about to get pushed around, ready to leave the ring when Kane sat up for round two, this time getting the best of Vader and finished him off with a chokeslam. Kane slowly made his way to the back however Vader wasn't going to take anything lying down, chasing after him as cameras caught up with them in a huge brawl in the back, literally, tearing the backstage area apart. The battle was getting so heated that security and even police were called in to seperate them, at least for the night.
On a Saturday episode of Nitro, Kane was in action against Raven though this time, Vader did the stalking, entering the ring and would jump him from behind. Raven left the ring not wanting any part of it as Vader would assult Kane with a flurry of fists and slams, dropping him with the Vaderbomb Powerbomb, sending a message to Kane loud and clear that he wasn't going to be another victim, leaving ringside as Kane sat up, heading to the back. Later that night, Vader was in a match against Misawa when Kane would interject himself into the match, however Vader was prepared for that, meeting him half way as they would fight along the ramp up to the stage. Both men would fight it out once again to the back with Vader starting to get the upper hand until Kane pulled out Sting's ballbat and would blast him over the head, breaking it into pieces as he picked the big man up and chokeslammed him hard upon the concrete, leaning over the beaten body of Vader and left him in his wake.
The final week of Nitro, Vader came down to the ring, actually right in the middle of a match, tossing them out of the ring not caring about the fines or anything as he took a mic.
"Kane...I know you're back there and I know you're watching me. I saw what you've been doing these past few months and I saw what you did to Sting. You want a piece of the Big Man..I'm calling you out."
Vader was laying out the challenge as Kane was happy to obligue, coming down the aisle way and entered the ring as both them would engage in combat once again, however this time Vader getting the upper hand, hitting a chokeslam on Kane as he even went further, splashing down with a Vaderbomb as he spoke out.
"Kane...screwed with the wrong monster. I'll end this...at the Great American Bash."
Match 4 - Vader vs. Kane
[Play Out Bourne]
Bourne came out as happy as can be, being the NWA's first Double Champion capturing the U.S. Title at New Blood Rising. He held both titles on his shoulder as he spoke out.
"It's been a long road since getting this far, but finally, I have achieved the next step in my quest to become the best in this business. Last night, I went against NWA's best and I walked out with the prize of the United States Championship. Now I know some of you were wishing for me to acquire the World Title, but at least, I was able to shut the critics up and prove that I'm just as good if not better than all of them. Now, as I embark on my one year title reign, I am going to be a fighting champion and defend, if I must, both titles in one night at the Great American Bash and I will in time, be your World Heavyweight Champion."
[Play Out]
Billy Kidman apparently had something on his mind as he would slowly make his way down to the ring though he had a scowl upon his face as he entered the ring, hearing a roar from the crowd though he didn't care.
"Well well, if it isn't Evan Air Bourne, our first Double Champion...wow. You know something Bourne I'm going to just come right out and say it...I've been traded around like a bad penny and so when I returned here back to the NWA, all I'm hearing about is Evan Bourne this and Evan Bourne that. You're a superstar, you're a made man, you're everything that the fans want and more. Except...you're riding...on my coattails. You see Evan, you can brag about how long you've held that title, but the truth is, I'm a 7 time Cruiserweight Champion...and if it wasn't for me, you wouldn't even have that title."
Bourne was a bit confused.
"What are you talking about Billy, I don't owe you a thing."
"Ah ha of course you don't! You know how you got that title? By using my move, the shooting star press! I've been using that move for years and yet who gets all the credit and flash for it...you do. You even stole the Asai DDT from Ultimo Dragon and yet these people cheer louder for you. You stole my moveset and got where you are today, just like how you stole that U.S. Title from CM Punk. So why not be a fighting champion and face me in the ring for that title that I made famous with the move I made famous."
Bourne would just smile at him, fixing the titles upon his shoulder.
"If history has taught us anything Kidman, it's that even the smallest of guys can make an impact. So you want me at the Great American Bash Kidman, you're on."
Match 5 - Billy Kidman vs. Evan Bourne for the NWA Cruiserweight Title.
There was a lot of dispute over the number one contender for the U.S. Title, especially since that was one of the key titles to be defended at the Bash. Last year a four month tournament was held and Regal was declared the winner over Steamboat, Bambam and Benoit for the U.S. Title, this year, the powers to be knew they had to come up with something big. Seeing as how Evan Bourne had just won the U.S. Title, they decided to only allow him defend one title on the road and the U.S. Title at the Bash thus giving him plenty of time to rest. DM decided to hold a weekly tournament with former U.S. Champions once again to see whom would get a shot at Bourne's title, the tournament would include Benoit, Malenko, William Regal, Vader, DDP and CM Punk, however, Punk vacated his rematch clause for the U.S. Title, more on that later, as the sixth spot had to be filled, however Drew McIntyre had spoken with both general managers saying that at Clash of the Champions CM Punk stated that if he was DQ'ed he would lose his title. As the replays show, not only had Punk used a chair but the referee had been knocked out and Drew never tapped out to the Anaconda Vice, thus of course, not tapping out as the contract had stated. A loophole in the match as both General Managers, after a week of going back and forth decided they would grant him a spot granted he was able to defeat two other former U.S. Champions.
Those two other opponents were Curt Henning and Eddie Guerrero. With a little bit of help from Priceless getting the last laugh on Perfect and DDP, Drew was able to defeat Henning and due to the fued already with Misawa, Drew was able to seal the deal with Guerrero with a distraction, thus earning him a spot. The weeks would carry on as the rules were the first man to three victories wins as Drew was able to defeat Vader when Kane interefered in the match, Malenko would trample DDP and Benoit over Regal. In the second week, Benoit defeated Vader via countout due to Kane once again, Regal toppled over DDP and Drew over Malenko via knockout. In the third week, Drew and Benoit were tied at two wins a piece and fought in a match, ending in a double countout, Vader lost to DDP by again, interfereance from Kane whlie Malenko scored a win over Regal. By the final week, Drew, Malenko and Benoit had two victories under their belts while Regal and DDP only had one and Vader due to Kane, zero as they set up an over the top rope elimination bout which saw Drew and Benoit as the final two. Benoit and Drew would have a bout that nearly lasted ten minutes longer than expected as Benoit sailed from the rope with his headbutt though Drew was able to avoid it and tossed him out of the ring, thus earning him his shot at the U.S. Title at the Great American Bash as Evan Bourne, had looked on.
Match 6 - Drew McIntyre vs. Evan Bourne for the NWA United States Title.
There was tons of buzz around what was going to occur for the World Heavyweight Title at the Great American Bash, especially with the constant rumors that Jeff and Stephanie were seen backstage, quite a bit and Steph had been watching a lot more of his matches seeming to be quite interested in one Jeff Hardy as a possible canidate. However the real issue was the World Title and the only way to make it seem bigger than it already was, simply was to make eight superstars battle for their spot for it. Each individual had to earn their spot by qualifying matches thus granting them a chance. After seven had been selected, CM Punk had entered DM's office, asking if it was alright if he could take his rematch clause for the U.S. Title and apply it to the World Title Tournament, granted if he lost he would forfit his rematch but it was a risk he was willing to take. Getting both DM and BM's blessing CM Punk was added into the tournament as the matches were on.
The first week saw CM Punk defeat Jeff Jarrett after Jeff tried to use the guitar though Punk was wise enough to his tactics and countered with a roll up though took the guitar shot anyway after the match, his eye damaged. The second match saw The Great Muta square off against Yoshi Tatzu, defeating him in fifteen minutes to the Shining Wizard, after the match, Misawa had congradulated him on the match, actually coming down to the ring to shake his hand, further, asking if he wanted to join his group of stars, to which Muta, indeed shook the hand of Misawa, agreeing only to spit in his face and take him down with a Shining Wizard, leaving Misawa in his wake. The third match saw Arn Anderson going against Paul Burchill, whom dispite being the fan favorite was ultimately crushed as Arn moved on. The Final match of that evening was Ricky Steamboat going on on one with Raven whom had been healed from his match with Jeff Hardy. Raven came within inches of victory though it was Steamboat whom caught the win, thus, advancing.
The second week of matches, DM had placed four numbers within a hat having Punk, Muta, Anderson and Steamboat draw them to determine their number on the board. Steamboat had drawn number three, Punk drew number one, Anderson number four and Muta....number two. Punk and Muta would square off against each other in a match that could only be described as a dream match for many as both sides were quite even, Punk, getting busted open over his eye a little bit as Muta went to seal the deal, missing the Shining Wizard and rolled out of the ring giving Punk a chance to breathe when Misawa came flying down the ring, hitting Punk with the Emerald Flowsion as the ref sounded for the bell, DQing Muta from the match, which only set him off further as he chased Misawa to the back. Steamboat and Anderson would have the final match on the card as Arn kept reminding him of what he had done to Flair though Steamboat kept confident, wrestling the big man for thirty minutes putting on a show for the ages as Anderson defeated Steamboat via Countout by gouging the eyes.
The finals would see CM Punk against Arn Anderson, however, the match ended in a double countout to which Arn would slam Punk through the announcers table. It was for certain that there was no winner as officials came down to help Punk whom was holding his eye again, bleeding as he sought medical help. The doctors eventually told the crowd that Punk had a severe injury to his eye and maybe taken out of the title hunt, thus granting Anderson the bye, however Punk, in an open interview, spoke out against it.
"Look, The Great American Bash is the halfway point, in six months we hit Starrcade and I worked my ass off to get this far, I'm not going to allow an eye injury, a broken arm, bruised ribs or even the death of my mother stop me. Yeah I'm banged pretty bad, but I will face Jeff Hardy for his title mark my words."
DM and BM decided the best thing to do would be to allow Punk to fully heal within the time they had left before the Bash and would continue the match, even though it gave the challenger a horrible disadvantag.
Match 7 - World Title Finals - CM Punk vs. Arn Anderson
"Ladies and Gentlemen welcome to The Body Shop, it's been a while however tonight we have a very special guest and there are questions that need to be answered. So lets not beat around the bush and bring out our guest for the night, Jeff Hardy."
[Play Out]
Hardy got a sounding array of applause from the pic match he put on at NBR even though he defended his title but neither won or lost the match, holding his title proud as Jesse spoke up.
"Well Champ, if that's what I can call you, it seems that over the last six months you've defended that title with about as much charisma as our former champion John Cena, now granted you're a different cut from that champion, at least you didn't have some angle to hold onto the title, which brings me to my first question, Jeff, at the Bash, you have a chance to face either Arn Anderson, or CM Punk, if you had a choice right now, whom would it be.?"
A tough question indeed for Hardy though after taking a moment he would respond.
"You know, Punk has been on top of his game ever since winning the U.S. Title against William Regal and last year at the Bash he fought Cena in a cage match classic but came up just a little short, knowing him, he'll probably make it to the end, however Anderson, in just a short time, made a huge impact so wrestling him would be my hardest challenge yet."
"Alright, there are a lot of nay sayers, those that say because of 'management' or of your lifestyle you don't uphold or represent the World Title, what is your responce to that?"
"Jesse, when I came to NWA I knew that it was going to be a challenge with the limitless talent that we have, those are with the HardyParty are just enjoying the ride, however those that wish to buzzkill the party can just stand back, because this Party is just about to get started!"
"Last question then, for the last, six months you have been champion, we have seen a lot of one Stephanie McMahon, what is your relationship with her?"
Hardy took a moment for that question.
"I've heard the talks in the back, I know what the internet forums and chat sites are saying and I hear it right now, is Jeff Hardy aligned with McMahon, what is his relationship with her? I can tell you right now Jess, that I am not at liberty to say, however, at the Great American Bash...I will not disappoint and to whomever I may face at the Bash, I wish you..the best..of luck."
Match 8 - Main Event - Jeff Hardy vs. CM Punk or Arn Anderson - NWA World Heavyweight Championship.
