Well it has actual actors in it so it's not fan made which is a good thing because Barakka looked fuckin' badass.

So essentially, they are taking the work of someone's fan fiction and turning it into a movie. If you REALLY go into the history of Mortal Kombat, this story, could never, EVER work. I really...really have mixed feelings about this

I'm 50 50 on two things: 1) It will ever be made 2) If it will be any good. It seems like it is going to have just as bad dialog as any game film but the fact it had hardcore violence in the movie and an actual plot is a far cry from the popcorn, cartoony and brainless film of 95. I don't mind when they change the characters and world to be more belivable and getting rid of outworld is fine by me. Like I said what the francise needed was a reboot and while this looks like a short that will never be made it does show promise to at least entertain. And hey any film where the focus is Sub zero vs Scorpian as the main plot has my vote over Lu Kang VS Baddys, not to mention 7 of 9 herself as Sonya.

this short is actually a pitch by the the directer to warner brothers about a possible film. also it was out online to see what kind of feed back they get, and from the responses i've read, this may be picked up by wb, which im happy about . i think this film looks awesome, despite goin away from the original plot of mk and humanizing it, the back stories do make sense(that reptile scene was sick). i only hope the next game would NOT be too much like this

I'm not a fan of the movie industry that takes a perfectly good 'idea' and changes it around because they can. Example...Dragonball The Movie. Need I say more?

Well yeah change for the sake of change is bad but if the changes make it different in a good way I am for it. To me this is the same way the X-Men movies changed the comics by making it more grounded. Now while i love the yellow spandex classic look it don't lend itself to a live action movie. Same thing here. They made two MK films based in the video game world and they sucked because its just an arcade game with no real story as far as if you just play the games.
here it looks like an actuall effort to make it into a plot with...shock horror...depth!
And speaking of bad change though I will admit I was not a fan of Baraka's claws being Wolverine. That is just begging for a lawsuit or comparision to the movie deadpool who looked like the original Braka.

Need I say more? so you'd rather the movie be just like the one in 95? as batista would say-"REALLY, ARE YOU SERIOUS?!" making a change in a new movie is good, but like i said above i dont know if a game would be as good. like you said it's a good idea....for a game, but as we saw wit da 1st 2 movies, it dont work

In you're into something whether it be Comics Or Video Games and they decide to make a movie out of it and you grew up being loyal to it, you would want the movie to be loyal to you. Yes I would want it to be how you grew up because that's how the characters are.
Now while change is a good/bad thing depending upon the direction it goes. For example, look at the Super Mario Bros. movie that came out? Different direction SHITTY MOVIE! If it went the way of the video game...maybe...oh just MAYBE it may have made sense...or better yet, maybe if they can't make a feasible movie out of the concept...don't bother.
Take something you know and love and grew up with and loyal to the story and character, then, let a movie company decide that what you grew up with was BULLSHIT and the characters are THEY"RE OWN and they can do whatever the fuck they want with them and put them in a story that at the end of the day, is NOT what you paid for the see.
That's what I'm pissed off about. By no means was Mortal Kombat the Movie A+ material, but at least the characters were...correct.
Another example, hypotetically, suppose they made an 'Undertaker' Movie...and instead of the deadman...he turned out to be bouncer or a gunslinger and that's it. Now....tell me..how PISSED would you be at that?

I understand totally what you mean DM. What I am saying is that you can be faithful to the character without them litterally being in their original outfit and having the backstory totally perfect. If you are faithful to the meaning and heart of the character then thats is what counts.
For me the Scorpian and Sub Zero in MK 95 were just there in form only and every part of the characters were gone. In this trailer they are blood enemies and Scopain killed Sub Zero 1 to me that is FAR more faithful.
