Guys that got over?

Hello ever DM here from The Blacklist and here is the open thread to wrestlers, past and present, that somehow got over and even we as fans have to wonder...'how the hell did that happen?' Here's just a small list to get us started.

MVP - Okay as a heel they were mocking him as a 'power ranger' but then became a big heel going against Kane and being a complete ass (More so the gimmick Otunga is using) and he garnered a lot of heat. Turn him face....somehow he gets over with the fans but his wrestling ability turns to utter shit. I ask you...how did he get over?

Mark Henry - Okay so for years and I mean YEARS he's a heel, terrorizes ECW, hell he was a champion, he turns up on Raw to fight Orton in a random pairing where he fought Bourne and Swagger already, (note Swagger is still a heel) and yet, Henry gets a face ovation? How in the blue hell did that happen? Better yet...how is he still working?

Great Khali - Okay did I miss something? How in the HELL did this 'big giant to fight taker' get so dammed big? You mean to tell me he goes from being a hated heel for two years, turns up on Kiss Cam and now he's a face? What's worse..he's a former World Champion. Again...am I missing something?

Hornswaggle - The nut crust from Finlay got over? And worse yet...he's still active on the roster? Seriously he was a member of DX and he's still running around and ACTUALLY had a small storyline with Vince. What world did I walk into?

Mr. Kennedy/Anderson - Here's a guy who got over SOLELY because of his mic skills. Why is it, that in the world of professional wrestling, if a person can't fucking wrestle, yet he's good on the microphone, he gets over?

Goldust - Don't get me wrong, I love this gimmick for all the right (or maybe wrong...) reasons. However, this was in the height of the 1995/1996 "stupid gimmick" era, and this was just that... a REALLY stupid gimmick. How the hell did it work? An openly... expressive movie critic who deems himself as a movie star in his own right? Yeah this got over?

Disco Inferno - HOW???

"Big Poppa Pump" - Scott Steiner once was a great wrestler. Unfortunately, he decided it'd be an excellent idea to break away from Rick, get a Jax-like steroid injection, and... yeah... just... forget it.

I think that's the 'Austin' Theory even though that wasn't his fault. He could wrestle quite a bit but once he got injured he was limited, thus, enhancing his mic skills, which now a lot of guys go "Hey..he's great on the mic...and yet I suck in the ring..I can work with that."

As far as Goldust goes, I think it was the mystique of him and the 'mind' games that pulled it off. Granted he was an 'okay at best' wrestler compared to Dusty but he's one of the few 'gimmicky gimmicks' that is still around next to Taker.
